But a few works are not as genius in my humble opinion. One of these less wonderful songs is Wonderful Christmastime although it is sounding out of every speaker during christmas holidays. So I tried to give it a different feeling. What about sounding jazzy in a silent, sentimental mood? So I found out the core of the composing is nice and genius, it's only the sound of the production which gave me a bitter taste. Purist composers may find some parallel fourths, but that's Jazz! The arrangement is written for more ambitious a cappella singers as it is packed with chromatic lines in the style of Kirby Shaw or other jazzy arrangers. Enjoy!

This is the march from Sergei Prokofiev's opera of the same name. Arranged for concert band, it has very quirky melodies and harmonies. It's listed as a grade 3 due to the short length. The ranges and rhythms are very playable for most groups. It's the intervals, harmonies, and tunings that make it more difficult for younger groups to play.

It's a simple blues in Concert F (despite the key signature where I've added that flatted seventh!) and is a great vehicle for developing young soloists - or pushing those with more experience to new highs! The mp3 is just a MuseScore3 export, nothing fancy, but it gives you an idea of what to expect. I've not included any solos, making this a good mp3 to give to your soloists to play along with. It's not too tough, should be playable by many advanced grade school and all high school bands - and it's scored to sound good even with pro groups.

It is a work that would be useful at the beginning of the school yearwhen it feels too summery to begin holiday music. March of the Shadows would be perfect for a Halloween orAutumn Concert.March of the Shadows begins with a whistle! It calls the show by announcing each new section of the piece. (Astudy of form.) It even reacts to a momentary modulation. The whistle part has all sorts of fun staging potential,including having it played by the director! The initial whistle is followed by a percussion introduction which sets thebeat. Seven percussion parts, three of them optional, have been included so that everyone in a large percussionsection will be kept engaged and out of trouble! The body of the work includes two alternating themes, one dark andshadowy in minor, the other bright, heroic and slightly syncopated in major. Every part gets the melody at somepoint, even the low brass and woodwinds! Ranges are all standard for early second-year band players, i.e. clarinetsdo not go over the break, trumpets do not go higher than middle line B, the snare drum part is sprinkled with basicrudiments such as flams and paradiddles. Even the horn gets a crack at the tune! Every part is fun, interesting andeducational.

Each series was set in a different historical period, with the two protagonists accompanied by different characters, though several reappear in one series or another, e.g., Melchett (Stephen Fry) and Lord Flashheart (Rik Mayall). The theme song is composed by Howard Goodall, an English composer of musicals, choral music and music for television. He also presents music-based programs for television and radio, for which he has won many awards. Goodall said of the Theme, They asked me if I would have a go at the tune. With all of these things, although I do come up with my own ideas, you don't really come up with a good one unless you talk it through with them and the vision they've got. It was quite obvious, the historical approach they were going for. What's interesting is that the first series, the medieval one with 'Richard the Fourth', was much more filmic and much more historical. That's why we ended up with that tune. Whereas had the first series been the Elizabethan one, the theme would have been slightly gentler, less heroic. .

The pan learns to listen, emulate, and look more like the harp's material more and more over time, ultimately finding peace and assurance. The difficult situations never leave, but neither does hope. God has provided for our physical, financial, and emotional needs, to be sure, but he also provided His Son as Savior and Counselor to us in every moment of every day. This is provision beyond words, beyond comprehension, and well beyond what this piece can say. I truly hope you enjoy this piece and give glory back to God for his provision.
