This song, written by Benard Ighner, and entitled “Everything Must Change� was published in 1976 on a Quincy Jones album entitled Body Heat. The classic song's lyrics explore the “change� that we, as human beings experience by going through trials in life, growing older, and eventually dying. This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements and we added some pretty cool left-hand fills, as well! More importantly, Katherine McPhee recorded it on her 2017 CD I Fall In Love Too Easily - enough said, I'm a huge fan! We hope you like what we've done with this great tune!

I have long been enamored of Brazilian music, and especially the music of A. C. Jobim. However, in this case, I didn't sit down at the piano with the intention of writing a bossa nova; it's just what happened. It is also the longest melody I've ever written; forty-two measures to drop an octave and a half. The melody should sound suitably languorous over the quick little separated after-beats in the accompaniment. The subsequent development section of the piece should feel like improvised solos, played with considerable freedom.

One way to look at the song is to not let big questions get in the way of enjoying the little pleasures we experience in life. The big question-Is God in heaven, why I don't know? little pleasure- 'I'm walking with Joker Jo.' Another way to interpret the song is by always living our best life we are granted a certain divinity in the shared experience and the big questions no longer loom so large... she spreads jelly on a piece of rye. But most importantly anyway we look at the song the overriding message is be grateful to have love in our lives. It really does not matter if it's cold outside when you have someone you love with you.
