Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1376404 By 101 Strings Orchestra. By Carolyn Leigh and Johnny Richards. Arranged by Dave Gingras and John E. Dosher. Broadway,Film/TV,Jazz,Musical/Show. Score. 3 pages. DAVID LEE GINGRAS #960948. Published by DAVID LEE GINGRAS (A0.1376404). Young at Heart is a pop standard ballad with music by Johnny Richards and lyrics by Carolyn Leigh. The song was written and published in 1953, with Leigh contributing the lyrics to what was originally a Richards instrumental called Moonbeam. Frank Sinatra was the first performer to record the song, which became a million-selling hit in late 1953 (and spilling over with popularity into 1954) where it reached the No. 2 spot in the Billboard chart. This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. We additionally added what we think are some pretty cool left-hand fills that we hope you will like! It's a fun song and not too hard to play!

Seen in this way, a concert reflects a value system that pits the individual against the group and poses a struggle of I against you. Surely this vehemence could be explained in a Beethovenian era when the concepts of human rights and individual freedom were fragile ideals. However, it is a different scale of values that my piano concerto tries to reflect: the idea of cooperation, of teamwork and of an orchestra as a living organism whose organs are not superior to one another, more vital than others, but fulfil different functions, qualitatively speaking.Every soloist plays a leading role, but this does not imply either subordination to the rest or denigration or subjugation of the rest. The fact that the soloist is sometimes in the foreground does not imply a victory over the others. The very concept of victory is meaningless here.At times, the soloist will fulfil a leadership role, at others he or she will underpin from passivity what is happening in the orchestra, intentionally from the shadows, as a grey eminence. And at other times - why not - he will question what the majority is doing. It is not a rough relationship of me against you, but there is also a we.The composition and orchestration of this piano concerto was made possible by a grant from the Senator for Culture of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. This work was funded by an artist's grant as part of the Bremen-Corona-Hilfen programme. The premiere by the orchestra of the Bremer Orchestergemeinschaft is scheduled for the beginning of 2024. Concert band - Grade 1 - Digital Download SKU: IZ.CBW172 Composed by Judith Katz. Score and Parts. 59 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #CBW172. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CBW172). 9 x 12 in inches. My school, in which I taught, had a number of assembly programs, including a yearly Veteran's Daycommemoration, where the band performed. Of course, I had to select a medley of appropriate pieces, but somehow could not assemble compositions that were both short enough and very playable by my group. That left mewith the task of writing my own arrangement of military anthems.I pay tribute to the United States Army, Navy, and Marine Corps. What is conspicuously missing, however, isthe United States Air Force Song. After the assembly, I was also asked, What, no Air Force Song?I tried a version of Military Jamboree with the Air Force Song, but because of the meter, 6/8, I found it tobe a lot more difficult for my students. They could play everything else, except the 6/8 rhythms. So, the musicteacher in me made the difficult decision to remove the United States Air Force Song from the finalarrangement, and thus, making it more playable for a developing band.

Small Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Drum Set,Piano,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.734624 Composed by Eliot Daniel. Arranged by Dennis Ruello. Contemporary. Score and parts. 12 pages. Chicory Music #6697419. Published by Chicory Music (A0.734624). On October 15, 1951, the very first episode of the I Love Lucy show aired on CBS and became the most watched TV show in the U.S. for four of its seven-year run. Fun trivia about the opening theme song is that during the first season the show opened with their sponsor Philip Morris’ animation of stick figure cartoons of Lucy and Desi climbing down a pack of Philip Morris cigarettes. It was scored with Ferde Grofé’s Jr. The Grand Canyon Suite theme (a composition from 1931).From the second season onwards, the I Love Lucy signature tune we all know so well became the main theme, and one of the most recognizable pieces of music on the planet. It was written by composer Eliot Daniel who cranked it out in an afternoon as a favor to his old Coast Guard buddy Jess Oppenheimer, the show’s producer. Since Daniel still had another year under his exclusive contract to Fox, he asked Oppenheimer to keep his name out of it. Consequently his name does not appear on first or the second season TV credits for what became one of the most popular TV themes. Later, Daniel did seek credit and received royalties from syndicated reruns for the rest of his life. The lyrics were written by Harold Adamson for an episode in the third season in which Lucy believes everyone has forgotten her birthday. So of course Ricky saves the day after a near disaster. This arrangement for Jazz Sax Quartet (AATB) plus optional Piano, Acoustic Bass and Drum Set parts remains faithful to the original.Performance Time Approx. 1 minute 25 seconds

Marching Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1266023 By Metallica. By Cliff Burton, James Hetfield, and Lars Ulrich. Arranged by Jason Sullivann. Contest,Festival,March,Rock. Score and Parts. 117 pages. Green Bicycle Music #858759. Published by Green Bicycle Music (A0.1266023). For Advanced Marching band, Level 4-5. The concept of creating a Marching Band arrangement for a Metallica song actually had occurred to me several years ago. The announcement of the official competition spurred me to action, and Hey, Guess What? I still missed the deadline. Perhaps an underachiever of the Metallica Family, but a member nonetheless.  The arrangement is based on my Piano version of ORION (available on this site, of course). It follows the original closely, with some embellishments added.  Some of the soli playing is more challenging than many arrangements. The mood is more of a Concert piece for Marching Band, with plenty of energy, but more musical complexity. The PDF has been improved and replaced. The score is on Tabloid (11x17) size paper and the parts are on Letter (8.5x11) size. The parts will need to be trimmed for use. I believe it justly expresses the power of Metallica's music. This is not eligible for the 2023 competition. First: your group could play it anyway. Second: I will be on a quest to have it added for next year's version.  I anticipate this year's competition will go very well.

Cello Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1288214 Composed by Chris Becker. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,New Age. Individual part. 6 pages. Beckeresque (ASCAP) #879245. Published by Beckeresque (ASCAP) (A0.1288214). When I first saw the enormous chair Rachel Gardner and Carlos Canul constructed for A Gift from the Bower, an outdoor, multi-disciplinary group exhibition conceived by renowned artists James Surls and Charmaine Locke, I had a vision of a cellist seated in a chair on the chair, performing solo in a bower deep in the woods of Splendora Gardens. I shared this image with Rachel, who didn’t think I was nuts, and over the course of several weeks, composed a piece for unaccompanied cello to be performed at the opening of the exhibit. I was honored when cellist Patrick Moore agreed to premiere the work; his formidable technique and the deep expression he brings to his playing inspired me to embrace the challenge of composing a solo for his instrument.Knowing my piece would be performed outdoors, I was inspired to evoke the rhythm of sound events one hears in woods, especially the rise and fall of wind as it moves through branches and leaves. The very opening of the piece and later, what I hear as an extended coda, were created as moments for the cellist as much as for the listener and are performed in a sort of meditative state, calling to mind the age-old question, “If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?†The repeating measures of 16th notes in the piece’s demanding middle section pay tribute to two of my heroes, Terry Riley and Philip Glass. While composing the work, Bach’s Six Suites for Violoncello Solo was another important point of reference, as was double bassist Eberhard Weber's 1973 album, The Colours of Chloë.Once finished, it made sense to name the piece A Gift from the Bower since the opportunity to compose the work was a gift, and in exchange, so is the music I have composed.A Gift from the Bower premiered on April 22, 2023, by Patrick Moore at the Locke Surls Center for Art and Nature.A revised version of this piece was completed on September 5, 2023.
