Clarinet Duet Clarinet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.942721 Composed by Frank Pugh. Celtic,Concert,Contemporary,Standards. 2 scores. 9 pages. Frank Pugh #3557501. Published by Frank Pugh (A0.942721). The title of Dandelion Wind comes from watching the white seeds blow off of a dandelion head in a strong breeze. Once in motion, the seeds travel with the wind until they come to a final resting place on the ground below. This piece flows along in that vein of a seedling's windblown journey.Dandelion Wind has a slight Celtic feel to it, and it comes in at just over 1:30 if played at the suggested tempo. The piece is written as a clarinet duet with no piano accompaniment. If you would like to know more about me and what I do, you may locate me on LinkedIn at Frank Pugh Independent Composer / Arranger . Chamber Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1141262 Composed by Igor Stravinsky. Arranged by John M. Laverty. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical. Score and Parts. 245 pages. Zephyrwindmusic.com #741570. Published by zephyrwindmusic.com (A0.1141262). Histoire du Soldat is one of Igor Stravinsky’s most performed chamber works. It is published in the original edition (for seven players, three spoken parts, and a single dancer) and as a trio version for clarinet, violin, and piano scored by the composer. It is also frequently performed as a concert suite using the original instrumentation. Although the concert suite is in many respects identical to the original, it omits several movements as well as small sections within some movements where spoken parts with music occur. This new edition is intended to eliminate any confusion as to what music should be included or eliminated in order to create a more deï¬nitive concert suite. Fortunately, Stravinsky performed or recorded the concert suite on many occasions indicating his intentions for how the work should be presented. As with all Zephyrwindmusic publications, parts come with an Unlimited Copy License, thus removing any copyright issues in the way parts are used. Parts can be used in analog form – printed on paper – or uploaded as a digital part onto a reading device such as an iPad for performance. Parts can also be legally uploaded onto a website for players to download. Instrumentation: Clarinet in B-flat and A Bassoon Cornet in B-flat and A (with an optional part in C) Trombone Percussion Violin Double Bass.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.796853 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Stephanie Daige. Classical,Concert,Wedding. 30 pages. Stephanie Daige #3213733. Published by Stephanie Daige (A0.796853). One of Mozart’s most beautiful melodies, the second movement of his iconic Piano Concerto No. 21, K.467, re-imagined for woodwind quintet. I have always thought this gorgeous melody would sound amazing as a woodwind quintet (my personal favorite ensemble), and I am glad I have finally gotten around to putting what I hear in my head on paper. The melody moves around between the different instruments as if they are having a conversation. This is a challenging and enjoyable arrangement, suitable for advanced students or professionals. The beauty and romance of this piece would make it great as wedding music.  It would also be suitable for a chamber music concert, or in a school or church. I hope you will enjoy playing this piece as much as I have enjoyed arranging it!

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Tuba - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792723 Composed by Petros Shoujounian. Contemporary,Folk,World. Score and parts. 31 pages. Gordon Cherry #6071203. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792723). Petros Shoujounian, Armenian/Canadian composer has written Twelve Duos for Tubas based on the folksong collection of the Armenian priest Komitas, known as the founder of the Armenian national school of music and one of the pioneers of ethnomusicology. Below are comments from the composer about his inspiration in writing these Twelve Duos for Tubas. My interest in the collected works of Komitas's ethnographical songs was aroused when I was introduced to Bela Bartok's similar works followed by Alan Hovhaness's huge creative world. Bartok completed his project having at his disposal a large collection of ethnographic music, while Hovhannes studied the wealth of Komitas's music with great interest. It is difficult to say to what extent the Armenian underpinning of Hovhannes's works are nurtured by Komitas's musical world, but his classical interpretation of the Armenian ethnographical music created a huge interest in the listener. Needless to say, there is also Aram Katchaturian's legacy, which at its core has the ardent presence of the Armenian spirit, nurtured by Komitas's very existence. Komitas has left a collection of about 3,000 cleaned versions of ethnographic song and dance pieces, of which 1,700 has reaches us, about 400 of which have been activated. I believe that in those beautiful musical fragments reside the power to be revived, once we enrich them with colorful musical instruments and unbounded polyphonic imagination. This is the motivation behind my own work and these Twelve Duos for Tubas: to make the essence of our ethnographic music accessible through Komitas. These Twelve Duos are appropriate for advanced performers and may be performed on C Tuba, F Tuba and the larger B-flat Bass Tubas.

In 1986, the Tennessee Dance Theater commissioned the Suite from O’Connor to be performed as a violin solo at Nashville’s Summer Lights Festival. The individual tunes are in various folk styles appearing in a chronological form for which O’Connor says not only represents the evolution of American folk music, but also mirrors his own family’s migration from Ireland and Holland to America. It traces the family’s route through the thirteen colonies initially, and then eventually out West during WWl nearly 300 hundred years later. O’Connor wrote the pieces in a manner and style in which he felt his family could have heard along the way. Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1025227 Composed by Thomas C. Baggaley. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 27 pages. Quest Haven Publishing #4600795. Published by Quest Haven Publishing (A0.1025227). Images of Family is a collection of six pieces for solo piano inspired by the scenes from the passage through an individual's life and the different roles they play as members of a family. The first movement, Toddler, begins with a single repeated note to simulate the ticking of a clock. As any parent of a toddler knows, when things are that quiet, it's time to go find out what that toddler is up to. The second movement, Dandelion Bouquet, celebrates the precious, intimate moments spent with a young child, representing a small bouquet of dandelions carefully picked and presented to the child's mother. The third movement, Loading the Car, portrays the chaos of a larger family trying to leave on a family vacation. Fourth is Newlywed, a celebration of the optimism and beauty seen through a newly married couple's eyes. The fifth movement, Afternoon in Grandpa's Meadow, looks at life through the eyes of the more experienced generation. And finally, the sixth movement, Journey Home, portrays the final moments of life, the goodbyes to family members on this side of death's door, and the joyous reunion with other family members who have already passed on from this life and await eagerly on the other side. A more detailed description is included in the work's program notes.Difficulty: The difficulty varies from movement to movement. (Movements may be performed separately if desired.) The most difficult movements will provide a nice challenge for intermediate and advanced students.Total Duration: 15 minutesThe composer (Thomas C. Brass quintet - Digital Download SKU: IZ.CMS164 Composed by Edward Taylor Paull. Arranged by Judith Katz. Score and Parts. 24 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #CMS164. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CMS164). 9 x 12 in inches. While doing some research on pre-20th Century American composers, I came across the name of Edward Taylor Paull. In all of my years as a flutist, conductor, and now writer, I never heard of Paull before, but I was curious enough to look for any sound files of his music, and came across both live piano performances and piano roll performances of the Ben HurChariot Race March on YouTube.Edward Taylor Paul, known in some circles as The Other March King was born on February 16th, 1858. In Gerrardstown, Virginia, now West Virginia. While not too much is known about his early years, we do know that his adult years were spent as itinerant musician, instrument sales person, selling pianos and organs, composer, as well as publisher. The Civil War era had Patrick Sarsfield Gillmore as the most famous bandleader and composer. As children of this era, John Philip Sousa and Edward Taylor Paull, were destined to follow in Gillmore's footsteps. While Sousa became successful through his work as both conductor and composer, even attaining the moniker of March King, the road to success and fame was more difficult for Paull. We do know, that by 1878, he was the manager of a music store that sold pianos and organs, eventually going bankrupt, and having to be bailed out by his own father. By 1894, he was the manager of the Richmond Music Publishing Company, and this was the same year that he was issued his first copyright on the Ben Hur Chariot Race March This was originally written for piano, particularly, the parlour piano. This was to become one of many marches and parlour piano compositions by 'E.T, Paull. He may not have been the most skilled musician of his era, but he was wise enough to realize how popular marches became in 1880's and '90's.Paull's compositions were also associated with beautiful color covers. He was fortunate to live in Richmond, Virginia, and the lithography company of A. Hoen & Company, provided him the highest quality and richly-colored art work for his compositions. This company was unique, in that they used a five- color process, which added depth to the color. Thepopularity of marches, plus the great covers, both contributed to the 60,000 copies that the Ben Hur Chariot Race March sold in its first printing. Not bad, for a first composition.Paull found inspiration for his march from the novel Ben Hur, written and published by General Lew Wallace in 1880. Paull dedicated his composition to Wallace, who sold many copies of his book. Eventually, there was a stage play and three film renditions; one in 1907, 1925, and 1959. Some time in the 1920's, the Sousa Band recorded the Ben Hur Chariot Race March, and of course, the MGM, 1925 film version, helped in a renewed popularity of Paull's composition.Edward Taylor Paull died in 1924, and his wife retained the copyright, until it went into public domain. What remains today are a few music examples in the Library of Congress collection, as well as some 78's and piano rolls. While I did my research on this piece, I tried to find any applicable Sousa manuscripts of a possible arrangement, but I could not findany. I usually write for woodwinds, but in this case, I thought that a brass quintet would sound far better. I also chose a moderate tempo, so as not to lose some of the nuances of the original composition.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.977031 Composed by Paul SanGregory. Contemporary. Score. 20 pages. Distant Engraver Music #3534597. Published by Distant Engraver Music (A0.977031). This set of three pieces is well-suited for advanced students or professional performers who enjoy creating and shaping mood, atmosphere and color on the piano. They were composed to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Claude Debussy’s birth. For that reason, they are based on various composing techniques and aesthetic ideas that he developed. Even so, there was no attempt to make them actually sound like Debussy’s music. In fact, while composing them I often felt like I was looking at Debussy’s techniques through the distorting lenses of music that came after him, but that he had influenced.I - Drifting Through ChangeOne sort of change in this piece comes from the interaction of two repeated rhythmic patterns of different lengths. Episodes of contrasting character then drift in and out of the piece creating more changes. The effect is as if one is floating quietly through empty space, but occasionally drifting past various objects or situations.II - Building CloudsTo me, the opening of this movement sounds like an idea from Debussy’s Nuages that has been turned inside out. Unlike Debussy’s more delicate clouds, however, the clouds of this piece grow turbulent and dramatic. III - Moonless HeathFor this movement, I imagine walking through an open untamed field on a dark moonless night and not being sure what I might be passing by. In terms of color and technique, this piece shows a more obvious relationship to Debussy’s music that the first two. It begins with a simple melody similar to that of his Bruyére, after which a Debussy-inspired ostinato gently moves the music forward. Structurally, the whole piece is an inverted palindrome so that a melody from the beginning returns in retrograde-inversion at the end, becoming a brief quote of Debussy’s music. Performance duration ca. 11 minutes.
