This was originally written for solo voice with a string accompaniment, but I have reduced it down to an organ/piano part and solo recorder. This is my favourite point in the opera; this song is hauntingly beautiful and fits the recorder well. I have left the lyrics in the score so the performer can read the original text when rehearsing.

I offered to rearrange my setting of the Palm Sunday hymn, Hosanna, Loud Hosanna to this text, which fit the purpose exactly. The recording is of the original text, (which is also available) but still provides an idea of the piece. The addition of a trumpet adds to the impact of this setting, which is of moderate difficulty. It is suitable for Advent and General Worship services. When playing the original 41 measures of this piece in 2019, Fraser noted that the music had some resemblance to works by Sergei Rachmaninoff. This encouraged Fraser to compose the remainder of this piece in a manner reminiscent of Rachmaninoff and, consequently, author a suite of solo piano pieces as homages to some of his favorite composers.In the “Adagio� section, which starts on Page 3, Fraser uses an inversion of a small melody from Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Op. 4, variation 18. Specifically, Rachmaninoff’s piece starting with the D-flat of beat one in measure 9 going backwards to measure 8 to the C, B-flat, A-flat and B-flat of the fourth beat is replicated in Fraser’s piece in the pickup to beat three through beat four of measure 10, however with rhythmic changes. In addition, there are some harmonic similarities between Rachmaninoff and Fraser’s music.This is the full version of the Rhapsody which is the first piece from 'Hommages: Suite pour le Piano'. 45 pages.
