This setting of the traditional Scottish song of farewell is designed as an 8-part arrangement that male and female quartets or choruses can sing together to finish a joint performance, as well as two separate 4-part arrangements for the respective groups to use when they're not sharing the stage. It was conceived to address the 'cost-per-wear' problem of special occasion pieces that only get performed occasionally but still need rehearsing to the same standard as the rest of the set.This is the setting for women's voices, in which the melody is taken for the most part by female leads, then handed off to the basses for the 3rd phrase of each verse. The first verse is homophonic, while the second explores a variety of melody+accompaniment textures before restoring the harmonic texture to introduce a tag that blossoms out from unison.The versions for men's voicing and combined voicings are also available for purchase.N.B. It works well for advanced high school groups, church choirs, university choirs. There is also available a S.A.B. arrangement for more advanced and smaller ensembles here on SMPPress.com. It actually charted in the '50s by artists you've never heard of. Weirdly, it has been recorded in 15 different Finnish versions under the title Hernandon salaisuus. (The Finns possess an overabundance of vowels.) And it was the theme for the gangstger character Brick Top in the wonderfully weird 200 flick Snatch.But it's a wonderful tango by Jerry Ross when you take away the words.If you need alternative instrumentation, I'm happy to accommodate. Life's Railway to Heaven (Life is Like a Mountain Railroad) was composed in 1890 and continues in popularity with those who love gospel music. It has been recorded through the years by artists like Boxcar Willie, the Carter Family, Bill Monroe, the Chuck Wagon Gang, The Oak Ridge Boys, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and Brad Paisley. Tillman's tune here is in 3/4 time, but a 4/4 version became popular when Patsy Cline recorded it in 1959. Willie Nelson later dubbed his voice into that version as a duet. In 2010, Western Writers of America chose this hymn as one of the Top 100 Western Songs of all time. This arrangement by McIntire is an Intermediate Piano Solo in the key of G featured in the Gospel Piano Classics series. Other hymns in the series include Grace Greater Than Our Sin, O How I Love Jesus, and Let the Lower Lights Be Burning, all available at sheetmusicplus.

Two Epiphany anthems for the price of one.  Firstly, Arabia's Magi sought him is a setting of original English words by the composer which references the journey of the Magi, their gifts and the redemption of the world following a humble birth.  This three-part (S,A,Bar.) homophonic piece is only one page in length but, in its 45-second duration, sets the scene for the following Latin motet.  Ubi est qui natus est uses the words from Matthew 2,2 when the Magi ask after the new-born King of Judea.  Comprising three short contrapuntal sections, this section lasts about 1.15.  Either section (English or Latin) may be used independently or, as intended, with the English followed immediately by the Latin.Marked as Early Intermediate because there are a few intervals which may catch the unwary sight-reader.  However, with practice, this is certainly not difficult.  (And, yes, I know this is not actually a Christmas piece, but it may well be included in a service of Lessons & Carols - and there was no option for Epiphany.)N.B. Gnome`s Dream revealed in the2018 Chamber Music Contest Entry.    Gnome`s Dream was designed to be performed by a group of five artists, or even seven, nine, one thousand or more!  Any kind of diatonic Harp can be used to perform this piece.  When playing the harp with the rest of the ensemble it might be better to perform it mostly as it was written.  In the absence of a Double bass, than should the cello take its part. In the case of an ensemble with more artists where we have already formed a bowed stringed orquestra, The double bass while playing the introduction of the piece remains a soloist and it will than be reenforced with a cello while the other bowed instruments are also playing. It would be good to tune the E string of the double bass down to a D but if this is not possible than simply play the lower „D notes one octave higher. It is a perfect piece for a mixed group of early beginners and „early soloists, it is very easy to perform. It can be played by a group of five artists, as well as a complete string orquestra with harp. Some interpretation symbols where used in the score as a performance suggestion. Most of the score is left virgin to the interpretation of the artists involved, particularly the use of bowing and fingering. It is a very flexible piece that can be used in all kinds of events. The score For the 2018 Chamber Music Contest Entrywas written on Finale.  The sound file For the 2018 Chamber Music Contest Entry, was produced with samplers from Garritan, conceived as an audio support for the presentation of the score. A Winter's Lament was written during our western Canada winter of 2015.  Although British Columbia boasts that it has a very favourable climate with little snow, it also tends, at times, to be very grey and wet during the winter months.  With that in mind, I wrote this fiddles ballad which records, in the opening, my thoughts about the bright, warm, spring and fall months which we have just left.  The middle section however, tends to be somewhat melancholic surrounded by the greyness of our winter, but it, in turn, is followed by a recipe of what lies ahead when winter actually departs; spring with its new beginning.  This is an exceptional piece for fiddler's around the world.
