The Partante pour La Syrie, Hortense's most popular work, was quoted by Camille Saint-Saens in 'Fossils' in his Carnival of the Animals. Hirondelle (Romance) is a beautiful slow sustained piece. Both pieces are suitable for players of early intermediate standard.
