Guitar,Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.979428 Composed by John Christopher Yount. Country,Holiday,Wedding. Score. 27 pages. John Christopher Yount #2029829. Published by John Christopher Yount (A0.979428). Slow Sunday is a lovely duet and country waltz that tells the lifelong tale of a couple whose love is challenged by the rigamarole of work and other distractions from focusing on the relationship. In the first verse, the man admits he has been drawn off course by work and other busy life responsibilities, and the woman follows by confessing her concerns and desire to start a family. The third verse is a violin instrumental that symbolizes the couple's new focus once again on love and family, and, in the fourth verse, the now aged couple looks back on a successful life of love and child rearing. This duet leaves the artistic choice to the singers as to which one sings the higher part, especially given the singers' own knowledge of their voices, blend, and the prevailing artistic context. The duet lasts about seven and a half minutes, and would be a fun, satisfying singing experience for two voices in the vein of Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. Slow Sunday would be a lovely choice for a couple's first waltz at their wedding.

Mixed Percussion B-Flat Tuba,B-Flat trombone,Baritone Horn TC/Euphonium,Bass Trombone,E-Flat Cornet,E-Flat Tenor Horn,E-Flat Tuba TC,Flugelhorn,Percussion 1,Percussion 2,Tenor Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1085558 Composed by Meredith Willson. Arranged by Rita Arendz. 20th Century,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Film/TV,Pop. Brass Band. 36 pages. Rita Arendz #689724. Published by Rita Arendz (A0.1085558). Meredith Willson, best known for “The Music Man†and “It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmasâ€, wrote music for many genres – from classical symphonies to popular songs, some of which are considered standards today. His chart “Chicken Fat†was re-recorded and used in the iPhone 5S television commercials in 2014. “The Peony Bush†has an interesting backstory. In the early 1940s, The Van Wert (north-western Ohio) Woman’s Club would invite “famous†people to speak to the assembly. It is believed that after learning that Van Wert had a huge peony cultivation festival running since the early 1900s, Meredith wrote this song. One of the first recordings was in 1949 by Danny Kaye; the orchestration was for winds, brass, percussion, and piano. This arrangement for brass band gives your 1st baritone player a chance to shine as the tender ballad singer Danny Kaye and gives your principal cornet player the opportunity to counter with the gravellier voice sounds of Louis Armstrong. It’s great for recitals, spring concerts, concerts in parks, and other occasions. Duration ~3:45. 36 Pages.

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1407735 Composed by Florence Beatrice Price. Arranged by Steven Nunes. 21st Century,Romantic Period. 183 pages. Nagamon Publications #990351. Published by Nagamon Publications (A0.1407735). Florence Price(b Little Rock, AR, 9 April 1887; d Chicago, IL, 3 June 1953) was the first African American woman to win widespread recognition as a symphonic composer, rising to prominence (with William Grant Still and William Dawson) in the 1930s. After early training with her mother she studied composition at the New England Conservatory in Boston with Wallace Goodrich and Frederick Shepherd Converse (1903–6) and privately with George Whitefield Chadwick. She gained an Artist’s Diploma (organ) and a piano teacher’s diploma.  In her large-scale works Price’s musical language is often conservative, in keeping with the Romantic nationalist style of the 1920s–40s, but it also reflects the influence of her cultural heritage and the ideals of the “Harlem renaissance†of the 1920s–30s. To her art songs and piano music she brought a thorough knowledge of instrumental and vocal writing, colorful harmonies and exotic modulations. The Oak from 1943 was originally written for orchestra and has been transcribed for concert band.  The PDF contains the full score and full set of parts.

Brass Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.767275 Composed by Claudio Monteverdi. Arranged by Mike Lyons. Baroque,Renaissance. Score and parts. 17 pages. Lyons Music Services #3218689. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767275). As part of my continuing project to transcribe Monteverdi's madrigals onto winds, here is the 6th book. In this book we see a much greater development towards dramatic representation. In a way, this book is divisible into two Scenes with a number of single items in between. The vocal lines are all much more complex and we can also see the beginnings of monodic writing appear in the semi-recit sections of some of the songs. Also clearly developing are delineations of the voices into soloists and chorus. Several songs in this book are almost akin to arias, with clear soloistic writing for the higher voices (Cantus/Tenor). The first four songs form a kind of introductory 'scena', which Monteverdi calls Lamento d'Arianna. A little later, there is a set of 6 songs which he grouped together under the title Sestina. Here, the song is describing One woman amongst the others, honest and beautiful. Now, there's flattery for you! There is a subtitle to this song Concertato nel clavicembalo - Conducted from the harpsichord. Obviously, this is not possible in this transcription. The continuo part has been incorporated into the rests of all of the parts, without swamping the leading voices. As with all things madrigalian, the lyrics are rife with double entendres. Monteverdi uses some very close dissonances to describe death and release.

Kim Stafford’s poignant poem of the same name tells the story of a young woman living alone in a remote corner of the world. She witnesses remarkable images of a rainbow over the moon and stars showing through the rain showers. She yearns to share these beautiful experiences with another person. The piece sets the choruses of the poem, which start in a lonely mood and subtly evolve, giving the listener the hope of being lifted into a sharing relationship with another soul. The electronic track weaves natural and synthesized elements together, creating a dreamlike soundscape evoking the night sky. The emotive arpeggiated melody line alternates between minor and major tonality, capturing her melancholic yet hopeful yearning to share this sublime moment with somebody else. The driving percussion elements represent the pitter-patter of rain drops. Synthesized pads provide the harmony and are affected by filter sweeps, a sonic interpretation of starlight refracting through rain sheets.YouTube link for electronic track: https://youtu.be/HlQFoy9hw0E.
