Written around 1820 by Italian composer Saverio Raffaele Mercadante, this engraving of his CONCERTO FOR HORN is in the original key and has been meticulously edited. Consisting of two sections, the beautiful, plaintive opening slow section (Larghetto alla Siciliano) is about 2.5 minutes in length and works well as a stand-alone feature to showcase the sonority of the horn. It would be perfect for a talented high school player. The concluding fast section (Allegretto brillante) is bubbly, delightful, and quite technically challenging in a few spots. The concert band / wind ensemble accompaniment (available separately) is scored to prevent overpowering the soloist and will work with smaller groups for senior recitals, etc. NOTE: This download is for the 4-page SOLO PART ONLY. This is a modification of the Franz Liszt arrangement, which I've updated to become more facile for the average advanced-level pianist.  It uses fewer repeated sixteenths than the Liszt arrangement uses, which eases wrist strain.  It also has fingering added, and more of the modern pianistic embellishments and flourishes.  I (Ken Young) have learned to play my arrangement over the last 8 months, and it's now an important addition to my repertoire.  I'll add a YouTube link of my performing it within the next year.

An optional repeat is included for playing additional verses. Two Handbell arrangements are provided. One is EASY with the bells playing just the melody. The second arrangement is INTERMEDIATE and includes harmony notes along with the melody notes. The piano accompaniment score includes the melody and lyrics above the piano score.Two separate sets of scores are included for the Handbells (one in standard format with black and white notes and the second with color-coded notes). A color-coded note chart is also provided showing the Handbell notes used for this arrangement as well as the number of times each note is played.  The note distribution is helpful when assigning notes to ringers.
