I have always loved the original theme music to this show, and have presented it here as a samba for piccolo, four C flutes, alto and bass flutes, and piano/bass/drums, with optional guitar. The chart features a catchy presentation of the melody, solos for anyone  who wants one, and a shout chorus featuring just the drum set and punchy flutes in tight harmonies.

This is the perfect piece to reinforce third position and pivots/extensions, and corresponds perfectly to George Vance's Progressive Repertoire for the Double Bass, Volume 2. The piano part is a true accompaniment and does not double the melody except at the very end.  The PDF download contains both a full score and a set of individual parts - Double Bass and Piano. Fischer was Laine's pianist and musical director when he composed the tune, and Laine was asked to write the lyrics for it. The Pied Pipers were the first to release the song, and as well as Laine, it has since been recorded by such notable vocalists as Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Rosemary Clooney, Lou Rawls and Tony Bennett. This version features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangements. We added what we think are some pretty cool left-hand fills that we hope you will like! It's a fun song and not too hard to play!
