Small Ensemble Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.978194 Composed by Jason A. Heald. Contemporary. Score. 16 pages. Call of the Wild Publishing #6265333. Published by Call of the Wild Publishing (A0.978194). THREE LABE SONNETS for mezzo-soprano and piano is a collection of settings by Louise Labé, (1520-1566), a female French Renaissance poet. Labé was fluent in Latin and Italian, and a trained musician. She wrote twenty-four sonnets.  TRANSLATION Sonnet VIII - I Live, I Die I live, I die, I burn with fire, I drown. It matters very little what I feel; All life is now too real, now too surreal; Joy comes and endless boredom weighs me down, And suddenly I laugh and then I cry; With grief and bliss I’m weeping for the past; Good feelings go away and yet they last, And suddenly I bleed and then I sigh. That’s how it goes. Strange, ever changing love Has worn me out. I wish I were removed From such a star-crossed fate! I need a truce With Lady Luck. Again and yet again, Her wheel is spinning madly to produce This wanton, wild, intense, exquisite pain.     Sonnet XVIII - O Kiss Me O kiss me, kiss me, re-kiss me, and kiss! Be reckless, impudent, hot-headed, bold! O woo me! Pursue me! Kiss me like this: And I’ll give back fifty as hot as red coals. There, is it hurting? Come, let’s soothe the pain. I’ll give you sixty others just like these. And so we’ll kiss again and then again, While we enjoy each other at our ease. I know there’s fire within your unshaped clay, And so, allow me, love, to share my happiness: O let’s make burning passion rule today. I’m fond of doing what I love to do, Yet cannot feel supreme delight unless I have my other wild encounters, too.     Sonnet XIV - As Long As Tears As long as tears can well up in my eyes I’m saddened that our nights are marked by pain. And now my voice expresses once again A plaintive melody I’ve improvised. As long as I can pluck the lute, I try To sing about your charms in my refrain. As long as I can think, my fevered brain Is burning with an ardent zeal. I cry And cry a hundred thousand times for you. But when I feel my whirling thoughts grow still, And when both hand and voice won’t work their will, Because your treachery is piercing through My heart, I’ll know there’s just one final way. I’ll ask for Death to darken that bleak day.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1316871 By Sharon Kaplan. By Sharon Kaplan. 19th Century,20th Century,Contemporary,Folk,Historic. Score. 16 pages. Weopleland #905541. Published by Weopleland (A0.1316871). The Road to Freedom is a collection of settings of four spirituals meant to describe the longing of the African-American slaves on American plantations for freedom.  Many of these were based on biblical themes, the better to fool the slave-owners.  The first song, Let My People Go, was used to let slaves know that Harriet Tubman, known as Moses, was in the area and ready to lead them from slavery to freedom.  The second, Deep River,  refers to the River Jordan and to crossing into campground, the promised Biblical land, but that was code for the Ohio River and passing into the north and freedom.  Wade in the Water reminded slaves running away that by wading in the water they could hide their scent from the dogs pursuing them.  Oh, Wasn't That a Wide River - and then one more and maybe another to cross on the way to freedom.  These lovely arrangements catch the spirit of the experience.

Clarinet Choir,Woodwind Ensemble Bass Clarinet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1294025 By Janna Willard. By Traditional Folk Tune. Arranged by Janna Willard. Children,Folk,Traditional. 14 pages. Janna Hoskin #884508. Published by Janna Hoskin (A0.1294025). “A Watery Life†was written in early 2023 for the “Klarinet Kerfuffleâ€, a day of workshops and recitals for clarinetists of all ages in Saskatchewan. It is a short piece that uses two familiar tunes to illustrate some musical concepts and techniques.First comes “Row Your Boatâ€, played with harmonies and then in a round (canon). Then we move into “Lightly Row†following a short transition. This is harmonized and the bass clarinet plays an Alberti bass. After playing through this once, there is a passage that combines the two songs, using passing tones and rhythmic variation to add interest.Lyrics of “Row Your Boatâ€:Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream!Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream!Lyrics of “Lightly Rowâ€, as I learned them:Lightly row, lightly row, o’er the glassy waves we go!Smoothly glide, smoothly glide, on the silent tide!Let the winds and waters be mingled with our melody.Sing and float, sing and float, in our little boat! Please let me know if you perform this piece, and don’t forget to review it!

It was written for the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz and was sung by actress Judy Garland. Arlen would often carry blank pieces of music manuscript in his pockets to jot down short melodic ideas. He described how the inspiration for the melody to Over the Rainbow came to him suddenly while his wife Anya drove: I said to Mrs. Arlen... 'let's go to Grauman's Chinese ... You drive the car, I don't feel too well right now.' I wasn't thinking of work. I wasn't consciously thinking of work, I just wanted to relax. And as we drove by Schwab's Drug Store on Sunset I said, 'Pull over, please.' ... And we stopped and I really don't know why—bless the muses—and I took out my little bit of manuscript and put down what you know now as 'Over the Rainbow.'.

Kim Kirkman #6697501. Published by Kim Kirkman (A0.779671). This is a wonderful old comedy song. This is in C major - the high key for sopranosI have put in the first verse that Tessie sings, plus the spoken part. I have changed some of the words of the spoken part to update them.I have then constructed a third verse from other verses that Le Clerq wrote. To sing it exactly like Tessie please repeat first verse.Words:Verse:For years a fairy queen I've bin', For years I foiled the demon king. But alas, I'm getting on, The years have flown somehow,And I feel that Fairy Snowdrop isn't wanted now.Chorus One:Nobody loves a fairy when she's forty.Nobody loves a fairy when she's old.She may still have her magic power, But that is not enough,They like their bit of magic from a younger bit of fluff. When once your silver star has lost its glitter,And your tinsel looks like rust instead of gold.Your fairy days are ending when your wand has started bending.Noone loves a fairy when she's old.Spoken:T'was I who found the magic wand, I will not tell you where.T'was I who found young Tinkerbell, her head was full of airI’ve been a fairy of the flowers, and fairy daffodils,I’ve been a fairy of the wind, and suffer from it still! In certain covered valley hills I go down to the glenBeen loved by all the children and run after by the men. Huh!Noone could touch me at me splits, me splits were all the rage,Until the night woodman left his chopper on the stage, what a mess!Verse 2:Nobody loves a fairy when she's forty.Nobody loves a fairy when she's old.As far as I can see they try to push you off the map,When once your wand has withered and your wings refuse to flap. When you have lost your little fairy dimples,And the mothholes in your dress let in the cold,It seems that they would sooner listen to a blinkin' crooner,Noone loves a fai-y when she's old!
