Flute,Vibraphone,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1089176 Composed by Daniel Burwasser. Contemporary. 8 pages. Head and Stem #693387. Published by Head and Stem (A0.1089176). Pavel Friedmann wrote the poem “The Butterfly†in 1942 in the Terezin Ghetto when he was 21. He was murdered in the Auschwitz extermination camp in 1944. Pavel was born in 1921 in Prague, Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic) to a Jewish father and a Christian mother. The Butterfly is a living symbol of the beauty of freedom. Such a free spirit could never have survived the confines of the Warsaw ghetto. But while the butterfly did fly away, the spirit and love of freedom it represented never left the souls of the Jews of the ghetto. They always prayed that one day the barbed wire would come down and the butterfly would reappear. The butterfly flutters there today, but many of the Jews who prayed for its return did not live to welcome it back. The first performance of The Butterfly was given on May 8, 1988 at JASA in New York City. The performers were: Andrew Bolotowsky, flute Glenn Rhian, vibraphone Mimi Stern-Wolfe, reciter There are at least two versions of the poem The Butterfly due to different translations. This work uses VERSION 2 as translated here: The last, the very last, So richly, brightly, dazzlingly yellow. Perhaps if the sun's tears would sing against a white stone... Such, such a yellow carried lightly way up high. It went away I'm sure because it wished to kiss the world goodbye. For seven weeks I've lived in here, penned up inside this ghetto, but I have found my people here. The dandelions call to me and the white chestnut candles in the court. Only I never saw another butterfly. That butterfly was the last one. Butterflies don't live in here, In the ghetto. For more information, go to: https://www.danielburwasser.com/To contact the composer directly, go to: danielburwasser9@gmail.comYoutube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@danielburwasser60.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1240133 Composed by Debbie Allen. Children,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Folk,Historic. Octavo. 14 pages. Nottingham Scores #835514. Published by Nottingham Scores (A0.1240133). Mystery of the Hills is an S.A.T.B. choral work describing the wonder of the Flint Hills, a region in East Central Kansas.  I’m not a native Kansan, but whenever I drive through this area, I am enthralled by the infinite sense of expanse and gently rolling terrain. Geologists believe there was an inland seaway that covered central North America starting 290 million years ago. Over time, alternating layers of hard limestone and softer shale rocks formed. It is believed erosion caused the varied elevations of terrain, unique to the slopes of the Flint Hills. These surface layers of limestone and chert prevented the settler’s ability to farm, which in turn preserved the integrity of the soil. Today, the prairie grasses can reach 10 feet tall if not managed.  The rich grasses are prime for feeding livestock. This music attempts to provide images of traveling through the Flint Hills today, while imagining changes over eons of time, due to weather and eventually, human interaction.  Generally, the upper voices provide the imagery and some history, while the lower voices describe a bedrock foundation.  Describing the rock foundation found in the Flint Hills is also a metaphor for human strife and struggle as man, among living flora and fauna, interact with the area. The vocal ranges and harmonies are accessible for young ensembles, whether in development or with years of experience.

Woodwind Ensemble Bass Clarinet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.581935 Composed by John Gibson. Contemporary. 11 pages. JB Linear #3456847. Published by JB Linear (A0.581935). Extinction Events (2nd movement - It Isn't Easy Being a Cuckoo by John Gibson was written as a submission to the International Clarinet Association's 2018 Composition Competition. Written for 3 Bb clarinets and 1 bass clarinet, it is a four movement work for very advanced players, although the 2nd movement is easier. This is the second movement only...the others may be purchased separately: Buzzy Delights, Walrus Jump, and Yaguarete Surprise (Argentine Jaguar). The entire set of 4 movements may also be purchased. Simply type extinction events Gibson in the search bar at the top. Each movement imagines a different animal or insect living in its habitat as it gradually deteriorates. One might think this would be sad, violent music, but each earthly creature is shown in its musical habitat where it happily does what it does best....bees buzzing around flowers, cuckoos gently calling in the forest, Walruses jumping not so gracefully onto sea ice, Jaguars quietly stalking their prey. The habitat changes are depicted by gradual use of unstable scales, and the sometimes hidden ancient tune of the Dies Irae, the Day of Wrath. The point I wish to make is how humans must be watchful of wildlife habitats because we are all in this limited world together. Where wild creatures go, so do we. It was best said by Jane Goodall: Only if we understand can we care. Only if we care will we help. Only if we help shall they be saved. Cuckoos are quiet reminders of spring when they first appear at the Marsden, United Kingdom area where they have a Cuckoo fair every year. Their habitat is shrinking at an alarming rate as their numbers slowly decrease. In the music, the cuckoos in the 3rd clarinet part get progressively sad sounding and simply disappear. Special fingerings are provided for the 3rd clarinet player. You may watch a video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/MOCTanOBIyk

Choral Choir (Mixed) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.999349 Composed by Dennis A. Westgate. Children,Contemporary,Musical/Show,World. Octavo. 73 pages. Tyne Music #5888377. Published by Tyne Music (A0.999349). PLANET ORIGAMI : Is my latest play in the TYNE ONSTAGE series of family orientated musicals and takes the audience ‘Out of this World’ to a strange little planet in a far distant galaxy on a small barren rocky planet called BEEZEDON. This is a place entirely inhabited by a race of androids, who after some catastrophic event, were the only machines immune from the ensuing radiation which destroyed every living life form and fauna. Before leaving for a safer haven, the emigrating intelligencia built a new colony of these ‘droids and programmed them to make their planet beautiful again by carpeting it with new flowers, when it was deemed ‘safe.’ The droids had carried out this programme diligently for the next thousand years. However no one had thought through the consequence of instigating such a rigid programme and when their preliminary attempts ended in failure and the fauna died, these clever machines found a perfect solution by refering to their data banks and manufacturing replicas from synthesised plastic. Once the programme was completed and with no more space left, the ‘droids instantly ‘restored' themselves and began creating their world all over again. This is where my story begins:-     â€˜Melody Mayflower’, Is a newly appointed Earth’s Ambassador and a representative of the Commission for Harmony and Concilliation, an organisation which has been extending its borders throughout the Milky Way Galaxy. Our own star system has become a recent member and Melody is one of their many Goodwill Ambassadors. Although she doesn’t know it, she has been selected for the onerous task of convincing the Droid Nation that their programme is now obselete, as Beezedon is now free of contamination, therefore ready for re-planting with organic material.

Trombone Duet Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1297340 Composed by Gioachino Rossini. Arranged by David Mathie. 19th Century,Classical. Score. 16 pages. Gordon Cherry #887420. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1297340). Here is what arranger David Mathie writes about the 5 Duos by Rossini.Gioachino Rossini was an Italian composer, born in 1792 and died in 1868. He was known primarily for his thirty-nine operas, although he did compose some chamber pieces and a few orchestral works. His 5 Duos for 2 Horns in E♭ were probably written in 1806 when Rossini was fourteen and living in Bologna, although they weren’t published until 1861. While it may seem unusual for a fourteen-year-old to be composing, by then Rossini had already written his String Sonatas at the age of twelve, and those works are still performed today. An explanation for why Rossini would write a set of duets for horn may be that his father was a professional trumpet player, and taught his son Gioachino to play the horn at a very young age. These five pieces were written for the natural (valveless) horns of the time, and like the horn writing of Mozart some very technical passages can be found in the lower part, especially in duets four and five. We can also hear the future opera composer’s arias in number three. The duos will work quite well on recitals and also for casual duet playing. Because trombonists can never have enough practice in clefs, I have transcribed the duets into three versions each using bass, tenor and alto clefs. The 5 Duos in 3 Clefs by Rossini arranged by David Mathie are perfect studies for any aged performer to begin learning Tenor and Alto Clefs. The duet format allows the teacher to play alongside the student, which is always so valuable for learning. They are of moderate difficulty making them well-suited for the Clef Novice to begin adding these necessary tools to their technique.

Piano Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.818323 Arranged by Stephen R. Dalrymple (Dalrymple Designs). Christian,Sacred. Score. 14 pages. Stephen R Dalrymple #6011219. Published by Stephen R Dalrymple (A0.818323). Piano solo arrangement of 2 hymns, Wounded for Me and My Savior's Love by Stephen R Dalrymple. William Gilbert Jones Ovens (1870-1945) conducted seaside missions in Northern Ireland for over 30 years. Following World War I, Owens saw a wounded veteran limping past him on the street and he thought He was wounded for me. Gladys Dobson Roberts, a missionary in India, wrote 4 additional verses (Dying for me, Risen for me, Living for me, Coming for me.)   Charles Hutchinson Gabriel (1856 -1932) taught himself to play the family’s reed organ, growing up on a farm in Iowa. He was teaching singing school by age 16. He served as music director in Grace Methodist Episcopal Church in San Francisco for 2 years beginning in 1890. In 1912 he began working with Homer Rodeheaver’s publishing company. He edited 43 song books, 7 men’s chorus books, 19 anthem collections and 23 cantatas. He wrote the lyrics for 63 hymns and the tunes for 218 hymns.   I used to like to tease the pastor of the Nazarene Church we were attending at that time whenever he chose this song. Responding to the lyrics I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene, I would remind him that Jesus wasn’t a Nazarene; He is THE Nazarene.Suitable for preludes, offertories, concerts, personal meditation. Composer’s Note - She Walks in BeautyIn the summer of 2007, I fell in love. I was living in what she and I now refer to as The Fairy Treehouse, a top floor studio in a shabby chic Art Deco block in Sydney’s Kings Cross. The block was too old to have a door buzzer (!) so she’d phone when she was on her way. With great excitement I would tear down three flights of stairs (the block was also too old to have a lift) and out the front door. Whilst I waited breathlessly on the cool slate doorstep, a frisky midnight breeze would tease the edges of my swishy summer frock and... See? I can’t talk about this time without lapsing into sickeningly sugary, nostalgic language. Forgive me, I was in love. And still am.She Walks in Beauty is the first thing I ever composed and is inspired by our nocturnal courtship.-- Sally Whitwell

Walt Disney’s movie, Disenchanted, is the long-awaited sequel to Enchanted.  Alan Menken, one of my favorite composers, wrote the music for it, and it certainly did not disappoint the audience.Fairytale Life (The Wish) is the first part of the two-part song, sung by Giselle (Amy Adams).  Things aren’t quite fairytale-ish, and living happily ever after seemed to have been just temporary.  At the end of the song, Giselle realizes that if she wants happiness, she is responsible for making it happen. This piece is scored for 4 altos, 2 basses, and contrabass flutes.  There is an optional double string bass part that doubles the contrabass, and can be played by any other C instrument in the same range.  It is suited for musicians with intermediate skill.Duration: 3.5 minutes.

Published by Stephanie Pack (A0.1478241). Imagine Pluto as a living being, journeying through the cosmos with a heart full of dreams. For decades, Pluto basked in the joy and pride of being called a planet, a respected member of the Solar System family. Pluto felt the warmth and camaraderie of its planetary siblings, sharing the vast expanse of space with a sense of belonging. But then, the day came when scientists re-evaluated their criteria for what constitutes a planet. Pluto, once brimming with pride, was told it no longer fit the mold. The news struck like a comet, leaving Pluto feeling isolated and heartbroken. The title of 'planet' was stripped away, and Pluto's status was reduced to that of a mere dwarf planet. In the shadow of its larger, more recognized siblings, Pluto felt a profound sadness. It lingered on the fringes of the Solar System, its sense of identity shattered. However, as time passed, a new understanding began to emerge. The term 'dwarf planet' was created, acknowledging Pluto's unique characteristics and the role it plays in our cosmic neighborhood.Pluto's sorrow began to lift, replaced by a sense of renewed purpose and pride. It found solace in this new classification, realizing that it wasn't forgotten or insignificant. As a dwarf planet, Pluto embraced its identity, feeling a sense of happiness and validation. It stood out in its own right, celebrated for its distinctiveness and contribution to our understanding of the universe.Pluto's journey, filled with emotional highs and lows, ultimately led to a place of acceptance and joy. It taught us all a lesson in resilience and the importance of valuing every member of our celestial family, no matter how small or different they may seem.Parts for Piccolo, 2 C Flutes, 2 Alto Flutes with C flute alternatives, 2 Bass Flutes, and ContraBass Flute.
