Rhythmic elements are prominent in this 3-movement brass quintet.  The third movement uses syncopated harmonic backgrounds to make passages in two sound as if they could be in three, and passages in three sound as if they might be in two.  The middle movement could be described as a hymn, through it written for the most part in 10/8 meter.  The lyricism of the music doesn't suffer from these rhythmic complexities.  I think it stands out more strongly because of it.  Suitable for advanced intermediate players or professionals.  Duration: 9 minutes, 50 seconds.
