Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1499562 By Richard Clayderman. By Oliver Toussaint and Paul De Senneville. Arranged by Martyn Clive Johnson (aka Martycli Piano Guy). Contemporary,Jazz,Pop,Ragtime. Score. 10 pages. Martyn Johnson #1075626. Published by Martyn Johnson (A0.1499562). This is my version of the classic tune performed by Richard Clayderman the iconic French pianist. I have done a complete departure from the arrangement he plays and done it as a slightly up tempo stride piano/ragtime piece. It's such a good melody I think it survives this treatment very well and sounds kind of cool, though I say so myself!I like to keep my arrangements as simple and easy to read as possible so I avoid pedal markings, dynamics and fingering all of which you'd struggle to find two piano teachers to agree on so  I leave them to the discretion of the individual pianist. If the intervals of 10ths are too big for your hands, as is often the case, they can be 'rolled' or just play the root note in octaves or even single notes. Please note I don't include notation for the other instruments on my YouTube recording it is simply a piano solo. It was written as a piano solo so it sounds perfect just like that.I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed arranging it. Best of luck.

Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869295 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 149 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #431379. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869295). Instrumentation: 3222-4231-timp-2perc-hp-chorus-strings Program note:It has been a wonderful two years of thinking, learning and working on my Continental Harmony Project with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra. It is a rare occasion that a composer in the 21st century would receive a commission to write a musical work of such scale: a 40-minute piece for symphony orchestra, 200-plus chorus and a ballet company.   At the Bangor Public Library I found some wonderful evocative 19th century texts for the chorus about the city of Bangor and its environs: the Penobscot River, Mt. Ktaadn, the logging industry, the native American culture, etc.   At times I felt overwhelmed, but most of the times I was exuberant and quite inspired by the music that came forth in the process.   The premiere is less than a month away, and I am looking forward to it. Susan Jonason, Executive Director of the Bangor Symphony, has made the occasion a very public one: a free concert on a Saturday evening! I hope the audience will go home humming the tunes from the work as they walk into the crisp, cool Bangor night.Formally the work is in five movements. The first, third and fifth movements are choral, and the two in between are orchestral.   In the premiere, the Robinson Ballet will dance in the orchestral movements.  The first movement is about the Penobscot River from winter to spring. The melting of the ice is a harbinger of things to come: warmer weather, for instance; but it has also contributed to a lot of flooding in the city of Bangor and its surroundings. The second movement is a waltz, a grand 19th century ballroom waltz for the ladies of the rich lumber barons. They come to the ball showing off their latest hats and gowns from London, Paris and Milan. The third movement is about the woods and the people who work in them. Thoreau’s text about Mt. Ktaadn is full of awesome thoughts about how nature is beautiful, yet unkind to man.   It is followed by a J.G. Whittier lyric entitled The Logger’s Boast. The original song had twenty stanzas to it. I whittled it down to five. I don’t know what the original song sounded like, so I made up my own version of a lumberjack’s drinking song. The fourth movement is a wild, drunken polka. After a long week of working in the woods the lumbermen come back to the city and spend all their earnings on booze, women and gambling. And they dance the night away …The last movement begins with a funeral march for Joe Attien, a native American who was Thoreau’s guide when he came up here in the 1900’s. The work ends with a rousing march, a centennial hymn to the city of Bangor.   God bless our city Bangor, now! On this its birthday morn …NB: The two ballet movements, II. La Valse and IV. Drunken Polka, are optional.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1371340 By Buddy Morrlow. By Jimmy Forrest, Lewis C. Simpkins, and Oscar Washington. Arranged by Paul Lichty. Blues,Jazz. 52 pages. Paul Lichty Music #955551. Published by Paul Lichty Music (A0.1371340). Thank you for considering this arrangement! The catchy melody and triplet feel will provide many opportunities for growth in your developing jazz ensemble.Listening to recordings of the tune is a must for emulating the style of the piece. Two good reference recordings are found on the following albums:Night Train - Jimmy ForrestGrey's Mood Al Grey (w/ Jimmy Forrest)There's also a terrific Youtube video of Jimmy Forrest performing it with the Count Basie Orchestra. This chart can be done with the following instrumentation: Altos 1 + 2, Tenor 1, Bari, Trumpets 1-2, Trombones 1-2, Piano, Bass, and Drums. If you'd like me to make parts for other instruments (flute, horn, etc.), please reach out to me.I couldn't think of too many blues heads that'd be able to teach two essential jazz concepts (the blues and slow swing feel) that would be as catchy and as fun as Night Train. Your kids will be playing this tune a lot in the band room!Whenever chord symbols are present, bass players can make up their own bass lines and guitarists/pianists their own voicings. This chart's slow tempo and familiar harmonic structure can provide young players with a bridge to developing their own improvised bass lines and comping skills. The plunger work in the beginning is fun, but not required (in case you don't trust middle school students with plungers :))If your rhythm section players need easier or harder parts, let me know and I'm happy to provide.Feel free to add additional soloists if desired. The trombone solo can be repeated for additional soloists.Enjoy Night Train!

Small Ensemble Piano,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.601828 By YO YO MA and Kathryn Stott. By Sergei Rachmaninoff. Arranged by Flavio Regis Cunha. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Instructional. 8 pages. Flavio Regis Cunha #6669111. Published by Flavio Regis Cunha (A0.601828). Rachmaninoff: Zdes' Khorosho, Op. 21, No. 7 (as played by Yo Yo Ma and Kathryn Stott) ARRANGED for VIOLIN and Piano.___________________________________________Š—Š“ŠµŃŃŒ Ń…Š¾Ń€Š¾ŃˆŠ¾ (Zdes' khorosho, How nice is here) was written in April 1902, in a sweet moment in the composer's life: he had overcome a creative block and had just married his cousin Natalia Sarina.Ā Zdes' khoroshoĀ is n. 7 fromĀ Twelve Romances, op. 21, a beautiful song that talks about the bond between man, nature and God. It’s also a love song; One of the things I like the most is the balance between contemplation and passion that Rachmaninov accomplishes. The poem, by the Countess Glafira Adolfovna Einerling, a contemporary writer of the composer who wrote under the pseudonym of Galina, simply describes a sunset. I don't know if the landscape portrayed is similar to what Rachmaninov could see from his home but no doubt he felt it part of his own; he even changed the beginning of the poem so he said that the nice place was here.Ā Zdes' khoroshoĀ is a song full of lyricism, seemingly simple but demanding for the singer (please pay attention to the pianissimo at the last verse, which seems to arise from nowhere), with an exquisite accompaniment. Some scholars think that the true essence of Rachmaninov is found in songs like that, rather than in his athletic piano concerts.Songs of Comfort and HopeĀ is inspired by the series of recorded-at-home musical offerings that Ma began sharing in the first days of the COVID-19 lockdown in the United States. Over the course of the last year, Yo-Yo Ma’s #SongsofComfort grew from a self-shot video of AntonĆn DvořÔk’s Goin’ Home into a worldwide effort that has reached more than 20 million people. Ma and Stott marked the next chapter in the project with this album, offering consolation and connection in the face of fear and isolation. The album includes 21 new recordings, which span modern arrangements of traditional folk tunes, canonical pop songs, jazz standards, and mainstays from the western classical repertoire.Official Video by Yo-Yo Ma and Kathryn Stott, performing Rachmaninoff 'Zdes' khorosho' from Songs of Comfort and Hopehttps://youtu.be/bcBcXV3lmKs 8 pages.

It was written for the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz and was sung by actress Judy Garland. Arlen would often carry blank pieces of music manuscript in his pockets to jot down short melodic ideas. He described how the inspiration for the melody to Over the Rainbow came to him suddenly while his wife Anya drove: I said to Mrs. Arlen... 'let's go to Grauman's Chinese ... You drive the car, I don't feel too well right now.' I wasn't thinking of work. I wasn't consciously thinking of work, I just wanted to relax. The other night I cried while thinking of having sex with you Not out of desire or shame but some subconscious impulse to feel pain I wiped my tears on my face and neck and the backs of my ears And said, Now it's sweat, now it's sweat, it's sweat now Just to see you It's such a treasure But when I feel you My flesh yields no pleasure And honey I'm cultured I'm very sex positive So what is this feeling? It ain't so positive I can't tell you if I like it, I like it What happens if I don't like it? I like it I can't tell you if I like it, I like it What happens if I don't like it? Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.873027 Composed by Sally Whitwell. Contemporary. Score. 5 pages. Sally Whitwell #3867219. Published by Sally Whitwell (A0.873027). At the end of July 2016, I was in my hometown Canberra for a job interview. I was sick as a dog with laryngitis for the interview and audition. Imagine me trying to take a choir rehearsal with no voice? It was never going to happen for me and I was feeling pretty sorry for myself. Halfway back to Sydney on the bus, I get a text from my dear friend Emma. I don’t remember the exact words, but the gist of it was No easy way to say this. We lost Jeff today. Jeff being Emma’s beloved husband and all round awesome human. It was truly devastating. I didn’t know what to do. I felt terribly guilty for thinking of myself and my employment failure all day instead of thinking of Emma and Jeff, even though that was completely irrational. Didn’t want to call because I knew she’d have enough stuff to deal with. Couldn’t turn around cos Public Transport. Had lost the ability to formulate sentences because in that situation, there are no words. So I fell back into the place where I express most clearly. Music. And into my native habitat, the piano. Passacaglia came flowing out very quickly. I hardly stopped to edit. Normally I would try to plan a composition a bit, so that it’s structurally sound. I didn’t do that but somehow it just emerged fully formed.  I sent it to Emma who asked if I could come and perform it at the memorial service. But I couldn’t make it to the memorial. And you know what the saddest thing is? I can’t even now remember why, which means it can’t have actually been that important. Instead I created an electronic file of the piece, with more sounds than just piano. I hope it worked ok. Emma told me later that after the funeral when she suddenly found herself alone, she just played it over and over again on repeat.  So I guess it did its job, but now it’s ready to make its own way in the world in its original version for solo piano. I hope it can bring some solace to others in grief
