Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1411180 By Damien Gauci. By Damien Gauci. Contemporary,New Age. Score. 5 pages. Damien Gauci #993515. Published by Damien Gauci (A0.1411180). This piece definitely has a more sinister feel to it compared to the other pieces from the album, I think that’s just how it started out when I was writing this piece - the title came later. When writing this piece, I wanted to write something mysterious with more of a focus on the ambient side of things rather than the melody. Of course, this piece still has a melody but I don’t think that is the focus of this piece, it’s all about the mood and atmosphere. The beginning of the piece does have a melodic motif which is used throughout the composition and there is also the left hand ostinato that is given to the right hand toward the end of the piece too. Harmonically, this piece doesn’t stick to functional harmony which is another reason why this piece tends to feel more mysterious and ambient.

THIS ANGEL Words and music by David Kai ©2021 Last night I thought I had the strangest dream An angel standing, watching over me No halo on her head, no gown of white No wings upon her back to give her flight I couldn’t see her face ‘cept for her eyes She smiled through them, and then I realized Just where I was and how it came to be This angel’s all dressed up in PPE If I could only speak I’d gladly give my thanks aloud If I could only breathe I’d tell you clearly just how proud I am of all of you who put yourselves into harm’s way And help to pull me through another day Dear angel, tell my family out there I love them very much, and I still care I’m sorry if I’ve caused them any pain God willing, I will see them all again Dear angel, say a prayer for this old soul That I might have some peace if I’m to go If I don’t make it through, tell them for me My angel all dressed up in PPE If I could only speak I’d gladly give my thanks aloud If I could only breathe I’d tell you clearly just how proud I am of all of you who put yourselves into harm’s way And help to pull me through another day Last night I thought I had the strangest dream This angel standing, watching over me.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1031889 Composed by Josiah Austin. 20th Century,Children. Score. 4 pages. Josiah C. Austin #3683991. Published by Josiah C. Austin (A0.1031889). Night Bird is an imaginative, melancholic piano solo by composer Josiah Austin.Good for airports, coffee shops, rainy days, and contemplative nights.DurationApprox 2:30Performance practice suggestions -Think of a lone bird fluttering its wings, dodging and dipping through the treetops of a lamp-lit park on a quiet night. -Try practicing the repetitive descending left-hand line first to establish the off-kilter foundation of the piece.-Don't let the key signature intimidate you. The piece is quite comfortable in Eb minor. Please interpret this piece how you will. I believe all art speaks to people in different ways, sometimes even contrary to what the artist intended. The articulations and markings in the piece show how I imagine it to be played, but I don't expect it to be played that way. However, I would like to hear someone perform Night Bird in a more graceful manner than my performance. Go do it!

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1490922 By Don McLean. By Don McLean. Arranged by Timothy Stapay. Broadway,Film/TV,Folk,Musical/Show,Rock,Singer/Songwriter. Score. 10 pages. Timothy Stapay #1067707. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1490922). Vincent (Starry, Starry Night) is a song by Don McLean, written as a tribute to Vincent van Gogh.McLean wrote the lyrics in 1971 after reading a book about the life of Van Gogh. It was released on McLean's 1971 American Pie album; the following year, the song topped the UK Singles Chart for two weeks, and peaked at No. 12 in the United States, where it also hit No. 2 on the Easy Listening chart. Billboard ranked it as the No. 94 song for 1972.Lyrics:StarryStarry nightPaint your palette blue and greyLook out on a summer's dayWith eyes that know theDarkness in my soul.Shadows on the hillsSketch the trees and the daffodilsCatch the breeze and the winter chillsIn colors on the snowy linen land. And now I understand what you tried to say to meHow you suffered for your sanityHow you tried to set them free. They would not listenThey did not know howPerhaps they'll listen now.StarryStarry nightFlaming flo'rs that brightly blazeSwirling clouds in violet haze reflect inVincent's eyes of China blue.Colors changing hueMorning fields of amber grainWeathered faces lined in painAre soothed beneath the artist'sLoving hand. And now I understand what you tried to say to meHow you suffered for your sanityHow you tried to set them free.Perhaps they'll listen now.For they could not love youBut still your love was trueAnd when no hope was left in sight on that starryStarry night. You took your lifeAs lovers often do;But I could have told youVincentThis world was neverMeant for oneAs beautiful as you.StarryStarry nightPortraits hung in empty hallsFrameless heads on nameless wallsWith eyesThat watch the world and can't forget.Like the stranger that you've metThe ragged men in ragged clothesThe silver thorn of bloody roseLie crushed and brokenOn the virgin snow. And now I think I know what you tried to say to meHow you suffered for your sanityHow you tried to set them free. They would not listenThey're notList'ning stillPerhaps they never will.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1160855 Composed by Nick Norton. Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,New Age. Score. 11 pages. Bathysphere Music #761167. Published by Bathysphere Music (A0.1160855). The four calm interludes (should that be capitalized?) are Four One, On Nothing, About Sixths, and On Sol. They are intended as simple, meditative pieces, perhaps good for student pianists to attempt. In spring of 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic took hold, I suffered a massive manic episode followed by a debilitating depression that lasted over a year. During this time I found my relationship with music fraught—I could not compose, and could barely even listen to music for enjoyment, relaxation, or whatever other reasons people listen to music. It was terrifying, thinking my life’s work was over. The shift to being unable to compose or listen, however, was a gradual, like the shift from mania to depression. I found my listening habits following what seemed like a massive ritardando, as they moved away from the upbeat music I was used to toward more and more ambient, very slow music. Hiroshi Yoshimura’s album Music For Nine Postcards was on repeat for a long while before the total break. Its calm repetitions must have influenced what I was doing, because I sometimes found myself at the piano playing the same note or chord over and over again, just listening to the details in the resonance. Out of this came the first of these four pieces, On Nothing.Eight months later I found myself doing it again, the result of which is Four One. Another eight months went by before About Sixths, and then, as my recovery became more and more apparent, only two months passed until On Sol. I am grateful to say I am now composing every day again, though my music has, without conscious intention, taken on a far more introspective feel than ever before.I have not given the pieces numbers, because I don’t mind if they are played in a different order, alone, or—as the title suggests—as interludes between other pieces. I do like the printed order though.

Solo Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1032084 Composed by Edwin Culver. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 4 pages. Edwin Culver #4347575. Published by Edwin Culver (A0.1032084). Classical Guitar Solo - IntermediateComposed by Edwin Culver (1992-) 4 Pages.  Duration 7'30Composer's note: Have you ever felt stuck? Trapped by something you can’t fully understand no matter how hard you try?  Perhaps it’s something from our past that we never invited...or something we’ve missed in our closest relationships, maybe it’s just the dread we’ve felt waking up early in the morning to repeat the daily grind.  We work hard to try and propel ourselves out of this nightmare, but we never seem to get totally free, in fact sometimes it feels like we’re just making ourselves feel worse by failing to overcome it yet again. This piece, ...a bridge a-way, exits within, represents that feedback loop, that stuckness.    The piece came to me when I felt stuck in life by several things - old scars, old habits, crippling emotions.  I had been wanting to write something in a minimalist style for the guitar for quite some time and the repetition found in so much minimalist music seemed like the obvious way for expressing this stuckness.  There’s constant motion in the piece, just like when we try to take constant action in our lives to improve our circumstances. But all this motion never seems to get us anywhere new. We’re spinning our wheels…But one of the interesting things about great minimalist music is that it’s not merely about repetition.  I don’t believe the greatest minimalists were concerned with having less stuff in their music for the sake of having less.  Instead, what I think they more often aimed for was producing the biggest emotional impact that they could through the tiniest of changes.  And if in your mind’s eye you zoom out from one of these minimalist masterworks and perceive it on a grand scale, you realize that despite all the seemingly redundant repetition in the moment the piece actually covers a huge distance because all those tiny changes add up.Likewise, in ...a bridge a-way, exits within, it seems like the performer can’t free himself from the territory of the first position on the guitar for the longest time.  Even when he does venture higher up the instrument he’s always inextricably pulled back to the starting point. But small changes can have a profound impact. It doesn’t feel like we’re making headway whenever we’re having to crawl out of our skin - until, suddenly, when it’s all over.  And you hear this towards the end of the piece, when there’s a sudden magnetic force that pulls the music from a low A to a high E-natural.  From A to E, a bridge to exits eternal. The bridge has been found within, in the One I’ve put my trust in, because I can’t reach my eternal destiny on my own.   This is ...a bridge a-way, exits within.

Clarinet,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.836709 Composed by Brian Joyce. Contemporary. Score and part. 27 pages. Brian Joyce #3074129. Published by Brian Joyce (A0.836709). A piece shrouded in mystery and intrigue. For myself, I mean: I don’t even know what the title means, nor why this particular piece should wear it. The music and the title came as a package deal, falling on me out of the blue one day. It wasn’t on my to-do list, nor was I looking for extra work. But perhaps that’s the answer: the piece itself is the Agent, breaking into my nicely ordered studio and disrupting things for the next few months. I’ll have to think about this some more. But I digress. Whatever its meaning or provenance, it’s an odd little sonatina. For instance, at its heart the second movement is a traditional scherzo and trio, but it is as misshapen as anything H. P. Lovecraft himself might have envisioned. Even I am not sure where the beginnings and endings of the sections are without a score in hand. Mystery upon mystery.  Another example: as I began to work on the third movement, I wasn’t sure if it would be a simple binary or ternary form, a rondo or a sonata-allegro. I never did find out, to be honest. All I know is that, to my ears, it sounds like what might have resulted if I had been asked to write the theme to The Simpsons. The audio sample will give you some idea of what I mean.More questions than answers.Performance time is a little under 14 minutes.

Piano,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1382422 Composed by Philip R Buttall. Children,Classical,Romantic Period,Traditional. 9 pages. PRB Music #742662. Published by PRB Music (A0.1382422). After being locked down by Covid, I had almost lost the will to live, let alone go on holiday again outside the UK. Two years before I had had a lovely time in Italy, visiting Rome, Pisa, Puccini's House, Florence, Sienna, and more. Almost at the end of the trip I stayed a couple of days with my dear musical friends in Perugia, where their then 8-year-old daughter, Martha, was making great strides forward on the violin (mum is a concert pianist and teacher, similarly dad, but on the clarinet. I had booked to stay in Cesena where they had moved two, and I had a lovely time here, two, adding Bologna, Rossini's Museum, Rimini and some of the Adriatic coast to my list of places visited. They, too, had had lockdowns, and cancellations, but quite by chance, the weekend I had planned to be in Cesena, was the rearranged date of a special outside concert in the imposing surroundings of Rocca Malatestiana, a medieval fortress than dominates the town. Martha was going to be performing a violin concerto by Rode, and her dad had adapted the orchestral accompaniment, so that the large clarinet ensemble could take its place on the night. It was a wonderful, moving evening, and Martha played so well. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house! When I knew I was visiting them this year, I wrote Martha a little fun piece, with piano accompaniment, that she might have been able to play while I was there. But because of the rescheduled concerto performance, there just wasn't enough time for her to learn and practise the piece with her violin teacher in Bologna. I even added an optional part for clarinet, so dad would not feel left out. Hopefully, one day, I might still hear Waltz for Martha played by its dedicatees! It's a kind of schmalzy Viennese Waltz, in the style of Kreisler and others! You can purchase the piano score and violin part here. The optional clarinet part is available FREE OF CHARGE - by emailing info@philiprbuttall.co.uk.

Easy Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1110129 Composed by Alex Lewis. Classical,Contemporary. Score. 3 pages. Houston-Piano Studio #712463. Published by Houston-Piano Studio (A0.1110129). This next part is copy and pasted from my blog: My inspiration for The pianist's Wind Chimes came mainly from Philip Glass. The Philip Glass Etudes are kind of short, but I've been listening to them recently. They are somewhat profound even though they are brief and not that advanced. Of course a piece does not have to be long or hard to be profound. The Minimalist style is a great way for beginner and intermediate piano students to sound excellent at piano recitals. I usually don't think about the title of a piece first. The title came to me as I was working on it. Funnily enough, the title might be the worst part of this piece. I only used the name The Pianist's Wind Chimes because I thought it was a cool name (ha ha ha!). In the middle of The Pianist's Wind Chimes, there is a reference to Beethoven's Fur Elise. The famous first two measures of Fur Elise were part of my inspiration. The notes are sort of different. I didn't want to copy Fur Elise completely. But I did want to make the reference obvious enough. I do wander how many people will recognize the reference. I hope most of them will. Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1472545 Composed by Laura G Cole. Christian,Contemporary,Praise & Worship,Religious,Spiritual. Score. 14 pages. Laura G. Cole #1050193. Published by Laura G. Cole (A0.1472545). This original song is for solo voice & piano. I’ve kept the accompaniment to the bare minimum so that the words can have greater impact on the listener. I wrote this song quite a long time ago. I was in the process of finding my way as a Christian. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior in my teens, but had always had Him in my heart as a child. My relationship didn’t grow for years because I don’t think I was being fed spiritually. It took a long time to begin that growth toward a personal relationship with Christ. I had lots of people help me along the way. A major influence on me was a student who was more spiritually mature in her teens than I have been all of my adult life. Allie, this song is for you.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1359879 By Bing Crosby. By Harry Von Tilzer. Arranged by Martyn Clive Johnson (aka Martycli Piano Guy). 20th Century,Comedy,Folk,Jazz,Ragtime. Score. 7 pages. Martyn Johnson #944360. Published by Martyn Johnson (A0.1359879). This is a very old waltz from 1900. It would have been performed in Vaudeville and English Music Hall. I take it through the two keys of Bb major and Cb major. Cb major has 7 flats but is not so hard as you might think as it's easy to remember to flatten every note instead of having to remember which notes to flatten! I interweave arpeggios between the melody notes and it therefore has a very full sound to it. It is sort of a Stride waltz in that the bass is usually, with some variations, followed by two chords on each beat.I don't notate fingering, pedals or dynamics as I leave the interpretation up to the individual pianist and in any event no two piano teachers ever agree on these things. Please note this is a piano solo and I doesn't include notation for the other instruments on my YouTube upload, strings, drums, bass guitar. I write all my music as piano solos first and they sound perfectly complete as such.I hope you have as much fun learning it as I did arranging it.

A meditative, introspective, and pensive a cappella SATB written primarily for college choirs. The piece foregoes complexities and flourishes and focuses on simplicity and melody. Text: Believe when you’re gone I don’t feel my soul When you are not here And when you leave me on some shore I think of how I’ll always love you And in ways I will grieve I will cry heaven If the beauty of the day is enough to break your heart Then come back angel See that your meadows give way to the sun I’ll always love you And in ways I won’t know You may grieve me too You may grieve me in heaven.
