String Orchestra - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522218 Composed by Various. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Christmas,Holiday,Renaissance,Wedding. Score and parts. 20 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #3879699. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522218). Arranged for strings, keyboard, any C-pitched instruments, simple percussion and other instruments by Colin KirkpatrickIn this series, Renaissance Hits for Strings, some of the most well-known dances from Terpsichore are included. They are all attractive pieces and are sure to be popular at any concerts or end-of-semester events. They are fairly easy to play too and the flexible instrumentation allows any players to take a solo with the melody part. They can be played by string quartet, string orchestra or ideally string ensemble plus any other C-pitch instruments that happen to be available. This publication consists of a score showing the four-part ensemble, keyboard and percussion parts. There are separate parts for violin 1, violin 2, viola (violin 3), cello/bass, percussion and keyboard. Additional instruments are not essential but they add contrasting tone colour. The keyboard part is intended as a guide and when possible the keyboard player should improvise around the part and chords shown. A piano sounds distinctly out of place in this music and a digital or acoustic harpsichord sounds more authentic. Most electronic keyboards have a harpsichord option.Every instrumental part (except percussion) also shows the melody line. This allows anyone to take a solo and play the melody, while the other players remain tacet. Solos can be decided in advance and the parts marked accordingly. Just cross out what you donā€™t need! The percussion instruments used are similar to those found in elementary school music rooms and usually include a small bass drum or hand-held drum, clave or small headless tambourine. Two players are usually required and the parts can be interpreted quite freely. Dance music is intended to be fun, and we hope that this arrangement brings you just that. Ā

Excited they don't know what to do, asking themselves whether tell the witches or not. Guitar,Instrumental Duet,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1144931 Composed by Jean-Paul-Ɖgide Martini, lyrics Jean-Pierre Claris de Florian. Arranged by Simon James. Classical,Contemporary,Folk,Historic,Romantic Period. 12 pages. DML #745248. Published by DML (A0.1144931). This became one of the best known tunes of the 20th century. The original version was published in 1785 and was an immediate success, a classical French love song written in 1784 by Jean-Paul-Ɖgide Martini (1741ā€“1816) taking its text from a poem by Jean-Pierre Claris de Florian (1755ā€“1794), which appears in his novel CĆ©lestine. The most famous version of the 20th century is undoubtedly that of Elvis Presley. He changed the words and only used the tune of the chorus ā€“ Plaisir Dā€™Amour ā€“ adding in a second section to what became ā€˜Canā€™t Help Falling In Loveā€™. Joan Baez in 1966, The Seekers with Judith Durham in 2009 at their reunion concert, Nana Mouskouri, Mary Hopkins in Welsh have all recorded the song though they used different English lyrics as the basis for their versions while keeping the French Plaisir Dā€™Amour. This arrangement uses the French lyrics and follows Martiniā€™s original harmonies but is arranged to better suit the guitar. It is a more comprehensive song with two other sections which always return to the original Plaisir Dā€™Amour so you might consider it a chorus. I have added a translation of the French text into English which can be sung to the Martini melody.

Brass quintet - Digital Download SKU: IZ.CMS164 Composed by Edward Taylor Paull. Arranged by Judith Katz. Score and Parts. 24 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #CMS164. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CMS164). 9 x 12 in inches. While doing some research on pre-20th Century American composers, I came across the name of Edward Taylor Paull. In all of my years as a flutist, conductor, and now writer, I never heard of Paull before, but I was curious enough to look for any sound files of his music, and came across both live piano performances and piano roll performances of the Ben HurChariot Race March on YouTube.Edward Taylor Paul, known in some circles as The Other March King was born on February 16th, 1858. In Gerrardstown, Virginia, now West Virginia. While not too much is known about his early years, we do know that his adult years were spent as itinerant musician, instrument sales person, selling pianos and organs, composer, as well as publisher. The Civil War era had Patrick Sarsfield Gillmore as the most famous bandleader and composer. As children of this era, John Philip Sousa and Edward Taylor Paull, were destined to follow in Gillmore's footsteps. While Sousa became successful through his work as both conductor and composer, even attaining the moniker of March King, the road to success and fame was more difficult for Paull. We do know, that by 1878, he was the manager of a music store that sold pianos and organs, eventually going bankrupt, and having to be bailed out by his own father. By 1894, he was the manager of the Richmond Music Publishing Company, and this was the same year that he was issued his first copyright on the Ben Hur Chariot Race March This was originally written for piano, particularly, the parlour piano. This was to become one of many marches and parlour piano compositions by 'E.T, Paull. He may not have been the most skilled musician of his era, but he was wise enough to realize how popular marches became in 1880's and '90's.Paull's compositions were also associated with beautiful color covers. He was fortunate to live in Richmond, Virginia, and the lithography company of A. Hoen & Company, provided him the highest quality and richly-colored art work for his compositions. This company was unique, in that they used a five- color process, which added depth to the color. Thepopularity of marches, plus the great covers, both contributed to the 60,000 copies that the Ben Hur Chariot Race March sold in its first printing. Not bad, for a first composition.Paull found inspiration for his march from the novel Ben Hur, written and published by General Lew Wallace in 1880. Paull dedicated his composition to Wallace, who sold many copies of his book. Eventually, there was a stage play and three film renditions; one in 1907, 1925, and 1959. Some time in the 1920's, the Sousa Band recorded the Ben Hur Chariot Race March, and of course, the MGM, 1925 film version, helped in a renewed popularity of Paull's composition.Edward Taylor Paull died in 1924, and his wife retained the copyright, until it went into public domain. What remains today are a few music examples in the Library of Congress collection, as well as some 78's and piano rolls. While I did my research on this piece, I tried to find any applicable Sousa manuscripts of a possible arrangement, but I could not findany. I usually write for woodwinds, but in this case, I thought that a brass quintet would sound far better. I also chose a moderate tempo, so as not to lose some of the nuances of the original composition.

Harp - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.928332 By Patsy Cline. By Willie Nelson. Arranged by Karen Peterson. Country. Score. 3 pages. Karen Peterson #5993773. Published by Karen Peterson (A0.928332). WATCH THE Bb VERSION: You are viewing the arrangement for lap harp, which is in the key of F. To hear the Bb version played on a larger harp, go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8WfrwixqGkOverview: This Countrypolitan song made famous by Patsy Cline was written by a not-yet-famous Willie Nelson. The attitude of the protagonist has been described as variously bemused, bittersweet, and cathartic. What is it to you, and how can you bring that emotion into your playing? My double-strung arrangement sets accidentals in the LH prior to playing, allowing the song to proceed without lever flips. The optional lever flip at the very end can be easily eliminated, making this song a great opportunity to practice flipping on the right with an easy recovery if you canā€™t get it in time.Key and range: F major (one flat). 21x2 strings. G below middle C through F. Preset F#, G#, B natural, and C#. (LARGER HARPS: For harps with C below middle C or lower, get the Bb version here: www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/crazy-patsy-cline-for-double-strung-harp-digital-sheet-music/21815694)Lever changes: One optional lever change on the right. Set four accidentals on the left before playing.Good for: Parties, performance.Double-strung effects: Preset accidentals on the left allow for jazzy chords without lever flips. If youā€™ve been hesitant about moving your LH into the melody area, this is your chance to learn. You can gently move out of your comfort zone by only switching hands for these accidentals, or you can take it a step further with optional echoed notes and an optional RH lever flip.Characteristics: The LH and RH usually play together, but with several held notes and a melody that doesnā€™t always strike on the downbeat, the hands play separately at least 25% of the time. There are a few instances that call for wider than an octave spread. Most chords are LH 1-5-8, 1-5-7, or 1-3-5-8. The RH has almost no chords. There are very few sixteenth notes. The most complicated placements are in the introduction with one slide and one cross-over.Finger placement: Finger number suggestions are provided for key phrases with bolded L/R for levered accidentals. Numbers above the notes are suggestions for the RH (marked with R or R# when they occur in the bottom staff). Numbers below the notes are suggestions for the LH (marked with L or L# when they occur in the top staff).Notation: Chord symbols are provided; lyrics are included separately. Treble clef used in both staves.Length: 2 pages. 40 measures. 2:30 minutes.Page turns: None if you print.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1160855 Composed by Nick Norton. Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,New Age. Score. 11 pages. Bathysphere Music #761167. Published by Bathysphere Music (A0.1160855). The four calm interludes (should that be capitalized?) areĀ Four One,Ā On Nothing,Ā About Sixths, andĀ On Sol. They are intended as simple, meditative pieces, perhaps good for student pianists to attempt. In spring of 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic took hold, I suffered a massive manic episode followed by a debilitating depression that lasted over a year. During this time I found my relationship with music fraughtā€”I could not compose, and could barely even listen to music for enjoyment, relaxation, or whatever other reasons people listen to music. It was terrifying, thinking my lifeā€™s work was over. The shift to being unable to compose or listen, however, was a gradual, like the shift from mania to depression. I found my listening habits following what seemed like a massive ritardando, as they moved away from the upbeat music I was used to toward more and more ambient, very slow music. Hiroshi Yoshimuraā€™s albumĀ Music For Nine PostcardsĀ was on repeat for a long while before the total break. Its calm repetitions must have influenced what I was doing, because I sometimes found myself at the piano playing the same note or chord over and over again, just listening to the details in the resonance. Out of this came the first of these four pieces,Ā On Nothing.Eight months later I found myself doing it again, the result of which isĀ Four One. Another eight months went by beforeĀ About Sixths, and then, as my recovery became more and more apparent, only two months passed untilĀ On Sol. I am grateful to say I am now composing every day again, though my music has, without conscious intention, taken on a far more introspective feel than ever before.I have not given the pieces numbers, because I donā€™t mind if they are played in a different order, alone, orā€”as the title suggestsā€”as interludes between other pieces. I do like the printed order though.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1277927 Composed by Terry Gilkyson. Arranged by Thomas Gunther. Comedy,Film/TV,Jazz. Score. 2 pages. Thomas Gunther Music Productions #869433. Published by Thomas Gunther Music Productions (A0.1277927). About the arrangement(See also (PopJazzKeys.com/The-Bare-Necessities)This is a relatively easy to play solo piano jazz arrangement of THE BAR NECESSITIES. The song is a traditional jazz tune made famous in the Walt Disney movie THE JUNGLE BOOK.Ā The video and audio recording I posted here features me playing the short version of my arrangement. When played as written (with all the repeats) it is almost 4 minutes long. What's cool about this arrangement is that you can easily add a bass player and even an entire rhythm section while playing it the same way as you would in a solo performance!Who this arrangement is best suited forI think everyone who likes the song except perhaps advanced jazz pianists will have fun learning and playing this arrangement.Ā I arranged this piece originally with my younger piano students in mind, who have smaller hands than most adults. Thatā€™s why there are no large intervals or big jumps in the left hand. Something generally found in ragtime and early jazz piano styles. This means that my arrangement is perfectly suited for pianists with smaller hands. Of course pianists with large hands (like myself) can play it too (ha-ha!).I think it is also a great piece for pianists who want to familiarize themselves with playing jazz piano. And since I wrote out every note and articulation, they can play along with the recording and hopefully pick up the traditional jazz feel along the way.Although the arrangement is not very difficult, it poses several challenges for the inexperienced pianist, as explained later. How I arranged itAs I already explained above, there are no large intervals or big jumps in the left hand to be found. Instead, I focused more on polyphonic arranging techniques, in both hands. I also used guide tones and inversions. The left hand imitates the accompaniment style of a traditional jazz guitar or banjo player with added half time bass figures that are typically played by a tuba or upright bass an octave lower.Ā Tips for how to learn this arrangementWhen I teach this song to my students I strongly recommend to them to listen to the original version and my recording a lot, rather than explaining to them how swinging eighth notes and jazz articulation work. By the way, there are a few bars where you hear me playing straight eighths on the recording (as indicated in the sheet music).Ā I decided to add articulations so that pianists who have not a lot of experience with playing jazz will find it easier to play it with the appropriate ā€œtouchā€. It's a good idea to check those out.Should you not be familiar with playing polyphonic passages with one hand, you might want to practice very slowly at first and attempt to balance the different voices appropriately.Ā Listening to the recording will also help with discovering dynamic possibilities. I didnā€™t want to clutter up the sheet music with dynamic markings, so listening to the recording is really the only way to figure out what dynamics I had in mind.

Published by Mainya Music Publishing (BMI) (A0.1203048). Contains:NumbĀ  - taken from the Isadar solo piano collection, The Purple Heart (improvisational solo piano) (available soon on SMP)Ā Sounds like: Keith Jarrett's Kƶln Concert, Bill Evans, Liz Story, George Winston, early Windham Hill solo piano artistsĀ Transcribed by: Ā David Shenton ( https://www.shentonmusic.com/ ) verbatim to the sound recordingĀ Album & Songbook review by: Ā Kathy Parsons (MainlyPiano.com):The Purple Heart is Isadarā€™s solo piano tribute and memorial to the people who lost their lives in the 9/11/01 tragedy. Recorded as a 56-minute improvisation on 12/25/02, the music is thoughtful, somber, and quite elegant. There are actually thirteen pieces on the CD, but they segue into each other, making it difficult to tell where one song ends and another begins. This is very definitely NOT a problem, as the album unfolds naturally and organically, asking questions, looking inward, and expressing shock and grief. However, this is not music about only despair or rage. I also hear hope and determination as well as quiet reverence - the strange mix of emotions we all felt during those dark days. Titles include From Cradle to Coffin, Bravery, Numb, New York Skyline, and Truth. Isadar has a wonderful way of wearing his heart on his musical sleeve, pouring deep emotion and heartfelt expression into his music. The music was recorded in one take, but rather than meandering all over the place, Isadar used recurring themes that make the work cohesive and consistent enough to hold together even after many listens. This is a very strong and passionate work, but it was recorded with a rather quiet voice which allows it to be very comfortable and soothing background music as well as evocative solo piano music for concentrated and focused listening.Ā The Purple Heart Sheet Music Collection is a note-for-note solo piano transcription of Isadarā€™s 2003 memorial CD by the same name (transcribed by David Shenton). The recording and book are a tribute to those who died in the attacks of 9/11/2001. The music was recorded in one take and although there are thirteen titles, the pieces segue into each other, creating a seamless 56-minute improvisation. The book indicates where the various pieces begin and end, but can also be played as one long piece. Although the theme of the music is very somber and bleak, the music covers the broad range of emotions we all felt during that period - anger, sadness, hope, determination, resolve, fear, grief, etc.Ā Although the recording is an improvisation, Isadar incorporates a recurring theme that holds the work together as a single entity. Some pieces are very slow while others are lively and even fast. All thirteen pieces are in C minor/Eb major, but the variety of moods and tempos keep the music evolving without becoming repetitious. When the recurring theme pops up, itā€™s like seeing an old friend! The difficulty in playing someoneā€™s improvisation is that the creation of the music was spontaneous and free-flowing. It isnā€™t easy to read an improvisation and give the music that quality of freedom. Less advanced pianists might find this frustrating. The time signatures change frequently, but a competent pianist will have no trouble with that. As I was playing this book, I sensed that I was looking directly into Isadarā€™s heart and feeling what he was feeling as the music was being born - a very powerful experience!Ā Isadar is an artist on both Enlightened Piano Radio & Whisperings Solo Piano Radio, featuring today's biggest names in solo piano music.

In 1999-2000 I recorded 10 instrumental acoustic guitar pieces I like to call Invitations (in part because they are somewhat technical like a Bach invention, but simpler and in a modern style; and because they are meant to sound pleasant enough to invite the listener in!)  This one, #5, was based on a simple melodic-chordal idea I got in the shower. I remember rushing to my guitar while still wet and naked, trying to play what I was hearing in my head. It didn't take long because this is probably the simplest of the 10 pieces. I used a Yamaha LL35 steel-string acoustic that I've owned since the early '90s, playing it finger-style with classical technique. I hope you enjoy it!

All around the world LGBTQ+ persons are being bullied, discriminated against , attacked, thrown in jail , and even killed with liitle to no laws to protect people.in my own personal life, as a victim of a horrible hate crime where the person involved attmepted to beat me and kill me , unfortuanelty i found out very qucikly how laws even in the USA do not protect me , how many cops ignored me and/or attmepted to make the attackĀ  my fault , and how laywers did not want to help and judges either ,and beacsue of the laws i was not protected as a minority and the crime wasn't a hate crime even though the criminals admitted this as the reason of the attack.I was told that this was not a hate crime , unless the criminals made me a victim of S.A., used a car/vehicle , or a gun, or actually ended my life. I also wanted to add , this brutal attack ( recorded on video by the criminals )Ā  which caused such serious bodily harm, had me in the hospital for surgeries, and required months of long and painful rehab and therapy. As a country, as a society, as a planet ,Ā  we all need to do better, and have to have more protections for such a discriminated group of persons.I did want to add , all the issues happening around the world, and even here in the USA, such as the awful and fascist discrimitory laws in Florida and other states it's no wonder the statistics of LGBTQ+ that contemplate ending their person or even attempting the act .I ask respectfullyĀ  that every one please go to law makers and demand better laws and treatments of people no matter what community there are of. All people deserve respect, proper medcial care, and to have the same rights as every other human being.Ā  We allĀ  can and mustĀ  be the changeĀ  you wish to see in the world.
