RayThompsonMusic #3506929. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553690). On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring is a tone poem composed in 1912 by Frederick Delius; it was first performed in Leipzig on 23 October 1913. It is the first of Two Pieces for Small Orchestra, the second piece being Summer Night on the River, although these have for many years existed separately on recordings and in the concert hall. The piece opens with a slow three-bar sequence; its first theme is an exchange of cuckoo calls. The second theme is  taken from a Norwegian folk song, In Ola Valley, which was brought to his attention by the Australian composer and folk-song arranger Percy Grainger. (The theme was also arranged by Edvard Grieg in his 19 Norwegian Folksongs, Op. 66.)The clarinet returns with the cuckoo calls before the piece ends in pastoral fashion.Arranged symphonic wind and contra bass/tuba.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.782884 By Justin Cody. By Justin Cody. Arranged by Justin Cody. Contemporary,Jazz,New Age. Score. 20 pages. Justin Cody #390290. Published by Justin Cody (A0.782884). Written for the 2022 Aspire performance at the River Arts Center in Prairie du Sac, WI, this piece is a reflection of the power of water to influence and guide you through life if you only list for it. An immensely Transformative piece, I delved into water themes in tempo and harmony. All the tempos are derivitives of 212 Degrees and the constant changing tempos are reminiscent of how the flow of water changes all the time. Harmonically, the key centers from Eb, to G, to B, are all connected to each other through common tones just like bodies of water are interconnected.

Please note that this is the score only, parts can be purchased separately.Coal River Valley Rhapsody is a musical journey through the Tasmanian Coal River Valley, which is best known for its food products, such as dairy, as well as its wineries. The Coal River Valley is a predominantly agrarian region in the South East of Tasmania, with the town of Richmond as its regional centre. The region is also known for its convict history and colonial era buildings and infrastructure. The region features the historical Richmond Bridge, which is recognised as the oldest bridge in Australia. The bridge spans over the Coal River and was built by convict labour. Construction commenced in 1823, with the bridge formally opened in 1825. The town of Richmond was proclaimed a police district in 1824. It is also important to acknowledge the First Nations people of the region, the Mumirimina people. According to the Richmond 200 website, the land that is now known as Richmond and the Coal River Valley was home to the Oyster Bay nation for millennia. It is noted that the establishment of the police district in Richmond significantly “contributed to the ultimate destruction of the Mumirimina band†(Richmond 200, 2023).Although this composition has been written to commemorate the bicentenary of the Richmond Bridge, it is intended to evoke images of the landscape and the river, as well as acknowledge the past of the region, represent the present and look forwards to the region’s future.Further information can be found here: https://www.richmond200.com

Vozzella #4299035. Published by Thomas R. Vozzella (A0.778324). This SAB arrangement, was made popular by the movie, O Brother, Where Art Thou. This familiar melody, from Appalachia was sung as a call to prayer, just as church bells ring to call folks to worship. This song was sung to call people to the river to pray and worship. NOTE: The original text, Down in the Valley to Pray can be substituted for Down to the River, if preferred. This work is an effective processional, having singers enter from various directions, making it very engaging for listeners.
