Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1314982 Composed by William Kersten. Classical,Opera,Romantic Period. Score. 23 pages. William Kersten #903730. Published by William Kersten (A0.1314982). Inspired by the Victorian and Romantic poetry of Christina Rossetti, Anne Bronte, Thomas Hood and Thomas Beddoes, the Five songs form a cycle of joy, sadness, love, death and exultation.   The music is scored in two versions: Normal Vocal Range and Wide Vocal Range.1. A Birthday Christina Rossetti (1830-1894) My heart is like a singing bird Whose nest is in a watered shoot; My heart is like an apple-tree Whose boughs are bent with thick-set fruit; My heart is like a rainbow shell That paddles in a halcyon sea; My heart is gladder than all these Because my love is come to me. Raise me a dais of silk and down; Hang it with vair and purple dyes; Carve it in doves and pomegranates, And peacocks with a hundred eyes; Work it in gold and silver grapes, In leaves and silver fleurs-de-lys; Because the birthday of my life Is come, my love is come to me. 2. Echo Christina RossettiCome to me in the silence of the night; Come in the speaking silence of a dream; Come with soft rounded cheeks and eyes as bright As sunlight on a stream; Come back in tears, Oh memory, hope, love of finished years. Oh dream how sweet, too sweet, too bitter sweet, Whose wakening should have been in Paradise, Where souls brimfull of love abide and meet; Where thirsting longing eyes Watch the slow door That opening, letting in, lets out no more. Yet come to me in dreams, that I may live My very life again though cold in death - Come back to me in dreams, that I may give Pulse for pulse, breath for breath: Speak low, lean low, As long ago, my love, how long ago. 3. There is dew...â€Thomas Hood (1799-1845)There is dew for the flowret And honey for the bee, And bowers for the wild bird, And love for you and me. There are tears for the many And pleasures for the few; But let the world pass on, dear, There's love for me and you. 4. We do lie beneath the grass...â€Thomas Beddoes (1803-1849) We do lie beneath the grass In the moonlight, in the shade Of the yew-tree. They that pass Hear us not. We are afraid They would envy our delight, in our graves by glow-worm night. Come follow us, and smile as we; We sail to the rock in the ancient waves, Where the snow falls by thousands into the sea, And the drowned and the shipwrecked have happy graves.  5. My soul is awakened...â€Â Anne Bronte (1820-1849)My soul is awakened, my spirit is soaring And carried aloft on the wings of the breeze, For above and around me the wild wind is roaring Arousing to rapture the earth and the seas. The long withered grass in the sunshine is glancing, The bare trees are tossing their branches on high, The dead leaves beneath them are merrily dancing The white clouds are scudding across the blue sky. I wish I could see how the ocean is lashing The foam of its billows to whirlwinds of spray, I wish I could see how its proud waves are dashing, And hear the wild roar of their thunder today.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.948699 Composed by Mark S. Massey. 20th Century,Jazz. Score. 3 pages. Geofonica Artistworks #6038073. Published by Geofonica Artistworks (A0.948699). Flowers For Dorothy is a beautiful jazz waltz (in lead-sheet format here) from pianist Mark Massey's breakthrough jazz LP: API: Acoustic Piano International, performed by Mark Massey and his trio (Eric Stiller on acoustic bass and Aldo Bentivegna on drums). In the vein of great jazz waltzes like Someday My Prince Will come, Emily, and Waltz for Debby.ABOUT MARK:In 2018, the California State Assembly and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors issued proclamations recognizing Mark Massey as a Jazz Living Legend. Jazz pianist-composer Mark Massey was born and raised in Lynwood, California, where he showed early talent on piano, trombone, and drums. During high school, he studied classical piano and played in the bands Synopsis (with future trumpet giant Wayne Bergeron), and Sabor (with Poncho Sanchez and the Banda Brothers). Mark played in the Pico Rivera Stage Band, which won First Place at the Hollywood Bowl Battle of the Bands. Mark graduated from California State University, Long Beach (with Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music), where he was recipient of the Carmen Dragon Fellowship for composition and he was dubbed A Young Giant by the National Association Of Jazz Educators. Mark has performed throughout the U.S., Europe, the former Soviet Union (in the 1980s), Russia (2001), the Far East and India. He has worked with Larry Carlton, David Benoit, Paul Horn, Hubert Laws, Louie Bellson, the Side Street Strutters, Phil Upchurch, L. Subramaniam, Freddie Hubbard, Maynard Ferguson, Yehudi Menuhin, Stéphane Grappelli, and Tony Williams. Mark was featured in The Four Pianos In Concert series along with pianists Paul Smith, Pete Jolly and Steve Allen. Mark Massey's debut CD, Acoustic Piano International, has received wide airplay on jazz radio. API featured nine of Mark's original jazz compositions--including Flowers for Dorothy, offered here--inspired by his musical excursions around the globe, along with Eric Stiller (bass) and Aldo Bentivegna (drums), and guest artists Alex Acuña, percussion (Weather Report), Justo Almario, flute (Mongo Santamaria), Plas Johnson, tenor sax (The Pink Panther Theme), Bob Mintzer, soprano sax (The Yellow Jackets), and Ron Stout, flugelhorn, More recently, Mark has been recording his iconic Jazz Thoughts for the Day albums of original jazz improvisional compositions for each day of the year. Jazz Thoughts for the months of January through July have thus far been issued. COMMENTS FROM MAJOR CRITIC REVIEWS OF MARK MASSEY: Mark Massey is awfully good. His friendly, lyrical, melodic piano has a sound unto itself, API Coverbop and post-bop influenced, contemporarily informed, and languishing solidly in the modern mainstream. ...This is a very good trio that is together in many aspects of jazz expressionism. In larger, more interactive settings, Massey proves he has ideas that work well. ...Massey's talent being exposed is a breakthrough. A majority of jazz listeners should find this a worthwhile purchase, and a keeper. Recommended.----MICHAEL G. NASTOS, ALL MUSIC GUIDE (CD review of Acoustic Piano International) Mark Massey is an excellent straight-ahead pianist who often appears in the L.A. area. ...his playing is consistently appealing. Of the trio numbers, the often-introspective Flowers For Dorothy, the heated Limejuicer Blues, and Seraphs Of Terpsichore are highlights. The opening track, Que Garota Linda, is a particularly rewarding Latin jazz number... All in all, a well-rounded and easily enjoyable release from pianist Mark Massey.----SCOTT YANOW (author of the books Swing and Bebop : The Essential Listening Companion), in L.A. JAZZ SCENE The Mark Massey Trio makes an exciting impression... Massey has traveled the world, perfor.

Piano Solo - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1448924 By Gabriel Iwasaki. By Gabriel Iwasaki. Arranged by Gabriel Iwasaki. Classical,Contemporary,Multicultural,World. Score. 20 pages. Gabriel Iwasaki #1028741. Published by Gabriel Iwasaki (A0.1448924). These pieces were written and dedicated to my piano students. The idea behind these series of compositions was to create easy, short and accessible piano pieces that sounded nice and that would encourage my students to learn various pieces, rather than learning a single long piece. My aim as a composer with this series is to evoke feelings usually associated with the night, such as calmness, tranquility, serenity, among others. The harmony utilized in these pieces is rooted in tonality. However, the fairly constant use of chords with added 6ths, 7ths, 9ths, as well as a few modal exchanges, add color to the harmonic sense of the music, perhaps even contributing to create a relaxing mood. Also, these pieces have a pedagogical edge. They are meant to be utilized to showcase chord triads, broken chords, music sequences, the use of the pedal, among many others. If you are a teacher, feel free to use these pieces as examples for your lessons. The last but most important thing I would like to add is to just enjoy playing these pieces. Do not hesitate in diving into a calm mood while playing these series of compositions, since they were created with that objective in mind. Simply enjoy them.As a side note, you can find the Little Nocturnes performed and recorded by yours truly in all major digital streaming platforms.

Published by Louke Publishing (A0.736263). PROGRAM NOTESReflections of Water for Flute & Pianoby Phyllis Avidan Louke 1.  A Cool Mountain Streamhttp://www.phyllislouke.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/1.-Reflections-of-Water-mvmt-1.mp3 2.  A Quiet Morning on the Lakehttp://www.phyllislouke.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/2.-Reflections-of-Water-mvmt-2.mp3 3.  Frolic in the Surfhttp://www.phyllislouke.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/3.-Reflections-of-Water-mvmt-3.mp3 This piece was written in memory of my father. So many childhood memories of Dad revolved around water-summer vacations spent with my family camping by a mountain stream, fishing in a lake and outings to ocean beaches near my childhood home in Southern California. This programmatic work is in three movements. A Cool Mountain Stream utilizes the pentatonic scale to depict a stream as it meanders along, frequently bouncing over rocks and sometimes heading down a slope, eventually ending in a small waterfall that empties into a deep pool. During a summer vacation, my family camped by a stream that was a natural waterslide. We spent many happy hours sliding down the waterslide into the pool below.A Quiet Morning on the Lake uses the repetitive rocking motion of the piano to represent the soothing motion of the rowboat as I spent summer vacations fishing for trout with my dad on a quiet lake in the San Bernardino Mountains.Frolic in the Surf brings out the playfulness felt at the ocean beach, while getting used to the water temperature and trying to predict when the waves will hit the shore. Many summer days were spent on Southern California beaches with family and friends, body surfing, tanning and simply playing in the waves. Scored for flute and piano.  5:00    Level 3 Phyllis Avidan Louke (b. 1954), a flutist, teacher, and award-winning composer, living in Portland, Oregon, has been arranging and composing since 1990, with over 70 pieces published.  Many of her works have received recognition in the annual National Flute Association Newly Published Music Competition and other composition competitions.  Ms. Louke has also been the recipient of annual ASCAP awards since 2004.  Her compositions and arrangements have been much-performed nationally and internationally and many have been recorded.  She is also the co-author of an award-winning series of pedagogical publications for the flute published by Theodore Presser Company.  Her music is published by Theodore Presser Company, ALRY Publications, Falls House Publications, Fabulous Flute Music Company, Nourse Wind Publications, and SMP Publications.  For more information on compositions by Phyllis Avidan Louke, go to http://www.phyllislouke.com/compositions/

Having reached #1 on Amazon.com’s New Single Releases in New Age Music chart, Timeless is one of thirteen pieces for solo piano on Dan Chadburn’s album, Love Themes for Solo Piano. Popular on SiriusXM, Pandora, and other streaming platforms around the world, the album is an expressive collection which explores and affirms the beautiful gift of love. Kathy Parsons, notable reviewer at MainlyPiano.com, writes, An extraordinary pianist…a master of piano improvisation…Chadburn says so much with a simple yet powerful melody and his deeply emotional expression – beyond words!Recorded at Joe Bongiorno’s Piano Haven Studio in Sedona, AZ, Timeless was originally composed as two separate improvisations. The first lyrical portion of the piece (measures 1-29) was improvised on March 21, 1998, while the second portion in 6/8 meter (measures 30-96) was improvised on March 21, 2017. Voice Duet Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1023431 Composed by Theresa Koon. 20th Century,Contemporary. 17 pages. Theresa Koon #5722251. Published by Theresa Koon (A0.1023431). I Come From Water is a chamber work for Mezzo-soprano, Baritone, Alto Flute, Clarinet, Bassoon Violin, Cello and, briefly, Bass Drum.  The piece was inspired by news that the US may be planning to perform missile tests in the Pacific Ocean near the Hawaiian island of Kauai.  Scientists are concerned that the tests may cause marine animals who orient themselves via sound waves, such as dolphins and whales, to become permanently deaf. The music is intended to evoke impressions of a life in water, beginning with non-verbal communication between fish in streams.  Images, sensations and sounds of water are expressed throughout the piece as salmon make their way from streams to rivers to the ocean.  Eventually, we hear a sense of quiet communion in the ocean, which is interrupted by three explosions.  The marine animals respond with panic, followed by silence.  The final measures are intended to express grieving.

Easy Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1033581 Composed by Lynne Cox. Children,Contest,Festival,Instructional. Score. 4 pages. Lynne Coc Publications #638891. Published by Lynne Coc Publications (A0.1033581). In Lynne's new series, 'Box of Paints', is 'Red'. Each of the six elementary solos in this series explores the different emotions various colors evoke and/or represent. This is an elementary piano solo/lyrics. Red is one of the 3 primary colors and is strong, energetic, and powerful. It is attention-getting and this is why sometimes it represents danger-as in fire trucks, stop signs, and train crossings, all mentioned in the lyrics. In some cultures, red is a lucky color. Form is intro A B A coda. Is in the key of C and 4/4 time signature. To be performed BOLDLY! Intro demands attention beginning with fortissimo clusters deep in the bass hands alternating, repeating up an octave, and then one more. A sections employ solid triads in root position beginning in LH with RH answering an octave higher. B sections arpeggiate these same chords with hands crossing over. Coda is exactly the mirror image of the intro, going down the piano with the clusters instead of up. This is a good dynamic contrast with 'Blue' and 'Green' in this series. Families of chords: utilizes 3 different families: 1. White/black/white; 2. White/white/white 3. Black/white/white. Lynne also performs this as an instrumental solo on you tube and other streaming platforms. The you tube link to the instrumental version is: https://youtu.be/Wim0E89rLqY.

String Orchestra - Digital Download SKU: A0.933524 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven, Cees Nieuwenhuizen. Arranged by Upstream Music. Classical. Score and parts. 24 pages. Upstream Music #6353319. Published by Upstream Music (A0.933524). The Prelude and Fugue in C major were created during the period of study with Johann Georg Albrechtsberger, who lived from February 3, 1736 to March 7, 1809. Albrechtsberger was an Austrian theoretician and pedagogue of music, an organist, as well as a composer. He entered upon his career early as a choirboy in the choir of the monastery of Melk, Austria. There he was discovered by the crown prince, the later emperor Joseph II. The latter facilitated an appointment as the court organist.Later Albrechtsberger became conductor of the chapel choir of the famous Stephansdom in Vienna. Albrechtsberger was a highly praised pedagogue; Beethoven, too, was among his pupils. It was this composer that studied with Albrechtsberger from January 1794 to March/May 1795. Together with Beethoven, Albrechtsberger researched all forms of the counterpoint, which is most manifest in the large number of exercises passed down; over 300 studies, fugues etc. have been preserved with corrections and alterations by Albrechtsberger. During this period of study, greater works were also composed, such as the Dona Nobis Pacem (Hess A57), the Prelude and Fugue in E minor (Hess 29), the Prelude and Fugue in F major (Hess 30) and the present one in C major (Hess 31). The piece was probably composed in 1794-95; this opus also shows numerous improvements and alterations by his master, although some alterations are by Beethoven himself. The manuscript of the work is to be found in Vienna, and did not appear in print until 1967 for the first time. The present version sticks closely to Beethoven’s, but has been provided with a double bass part so as to adapt the work for being performed with a larger strength than for which it was originally written. The strength originally intended by Beethoven was two violins, a viola and a cello, so as a string quartet. With the supplementary bass part, the piece can also be played by a string orchestra, which will no doubt promote its dissemination and familiarity. In a sense, the work is already a preliminary study for the string quartets Opus 18 produced later.Especially the rhythm, melodic forms, and the counterpoint applied, frequently return in these string quartets. Beethoven has hardly indicated any rests in the empty bars; Cees has as yet added them. The phrasing, dynamics and time indications have also been added. Beethoven merely writes down the notes, while we have to accept the fact that various notes have been changed by Albrechtsberger but Beethoven’s notes might have been just as interesting. Of some notes it was not clear what Beethoven exactly meant; in such a case, Cees has adhered to the harmonious form, adapting the notes which, logically speaking, fit in with the harmonic unity.
