Clarinet and piano - Grade 4 - Digital Download SKU: DX.W29142CL Composed by Joseph Hart. Arranged by Rich Heffler. Key of g minor. Traditional. Score and part. 7 pages. David E. Smith - Digital Sheet Music #W29142CL. Published by David E. Smith - Digital Sheet Music (DX.W29142CL). Emotive setting of the early American classic. The opening is plaintive in the piano and then joined in with a counter-tune where it then presents the theme in a straight-forward manner. The next section uses the counter-theme again and then presents the theme in an embellished manner. Again the counter-theme is present followed by the embellished theme. After a brief interlude the piece picks up again with the counter-theme where it slowly and quietly settles in repose.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1408121 By Damien Gauci. By Damien Gauci. Classical. Score. 6 pages. Damien Gauci #990691. Published by Damien Gauci (A0.1408121). I wrote this for a composition assignment at school one time and it started out with the moving bassline that is present for nearly the entire piece. The title itself describes the piece - “moving basslineâ€. After coming up with the moving bassline, I wrote the melody on top which is used throughout the piece and built upon. This piece uses a ternary form which is one of my favourite forms to write in. I especially like going in a slightly different direction the second and final time the A section comes around. So in the first A section, the bassline is introduced and the melody comes soon after. The bassline then transitions into the B section which features a mobile melody on top of the bassline. This was a lot of fun to write as I came up with 8 bars first and then repeated that theme two more times but with a more intense variation each time. Then in the final section of the piece, the original motif returns with some variations to keep it interesting and fresh.

Clarinet Choir,Woodwind Ensemble Bass Clarinet,Contra Alto Clarinet,E-Flat Clarinet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.764956 Composed by Lori Archer Sutherland. Contemporary,Folk,Standards. 50 pages. Lori Archer Sutherland #4597193. Published by Lori Archer Sutherland (A0.764956). For clarinet choir (Eb, 4 Bb, Alto, Bass, Eb Contra, Bb Contra. Alternate Bb parts included for Eb and Alto. Basset horn part included (doubles Alto)).You may print multiple parts as needed for your ensemble. The Monk’s Turned Topsy-Turvy is an original fantasy for clarinet choir, based on the old French-Canadian children’s song, Ah! Si mon moine voulait danser! (Danse, mon moine, danse). The title is a play on words: moine means both monk and spinning top in French. The lyrics speak of persuading mon moine to dance by offering various articles of clothing, such as a hood or cap. After a brief, yet bold, introduction, the piece jumps into a straightforward rendition of the tune. From there, the melody is repeated, bringing in other voices and added flourishes. While the tune starts to repeat a third time, it doesn’t get to finish its full statement. It’s interrupted by a run up through the ensemble into a rollicking 7/8 section. With a rhythmic accompaniment underneath, the jaunty melody begins in the third clarinets. The upper instruments take over briefly in 6/8, then the tune returns to 7/8. After a quick breather, the accompaniment introduces an upward sweep motif. This alternates with the accompaniment pattern heard at the beginning of the 7/8 section. The lower voices then take control, driving downward into a different tonality and mood. An undulating accompaniment sets a dreamlike feel, with different voices quoting fragments of the theme. The accompaniment transfers between voices throughout the section, eventually changing back into a 3/4, then a 2/4 feel, resulting in a transition back to the original feel of the piece. The low voices get the melody, with rhythmic accompaniment and racing runs throughout the other sections. The melody goes a bit topsy-turvy before the group comes together in the descending quarter note motif from the beginning of the piece, bringing us to the coda. There’s one final quote of the opening of the main theme from the low voices, leading to a whirlwind in the first and Eb with accented notes and suspensions underneath. The Eb pipes up with one last comment and the group closes out the piece. Also available for concert band (S0.708971)

Mandolin - Digital Download SKU: A0.1017685 Composed by Gordon Jackson. Baroque,Classical,Folk,World. Score. 16 pages. Gordon Jackson #6498403. Published by Gordon Jackson (A0.1017685). Suite in D MinorThe Baroque period in music lasted from approximately the end of the sixteenth century to about the middle of the eighteenth, culminating most famously in the works of Bach and Handel. The suite was a short collection of stylised dance tunes, sometimes (but not here) preceded by a prelude. The suite typically comprised the dances allemande, courante, sarabande, and gigue, to which others may be added. I have added a bourrée and a minuet. Although this is arranged for two mandolins, other instruments can of course be used. I have added a line of mandolin tablature for those who don’t read standard notation. (Actually, I don’t read tablature myself – I used my favourite notation program, Harmony Assistant, to write the score, and it very kindly created the tablature for me!)As a performer of mostly traditional folk tunes, I am driven first by melody, then rhythm, and only then by harmony. For each of these pieces, the melody came first, keeping to the strict rhythmic imperatives of each dance form. Only then were counterpoints added. In this score, the only dance to be repeated is the minuet. Here, the first time through is played on a single mandolin, with rather a lot of double stopping. On the second time through the first mandolin sticks to the basic melody, while the second mandolin plays a counterpoint. Some may recognise the opening bar of the bourrée; it was inspired by a tune by Turlough Ó Carolan (1670-1738) entitled The Princess Royal. The rest, however, is mine!

String Ensemble,String Trio - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.913984 Composed by Arthur Breur. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 15 pages. Floating Home Music #4819957. Published by Floating Home Music (A0.913984). Glacier Bay for String Trio. An audio impression of the experience of being in Glacier Bay. This is the premier performance of Glacier Bay by String Trio Black Diamonds - just one day after Arthur Breur composed the piece and provided the trio with the score and parts. They performed the piece in the atrium of the Norwegian Sun on July 3, 2016. With gratitude to Captain Richard Svardmark and the entire crew of the Norwegian Sun. Arthur Breur composed Glacier Bay in a single day on the Cruise Ship Norwegian Sun as it toured Glacier Bay, Alaska. Waking very early that day, Arthur was greeted with foggy, gray, mysterious views in an eerie northern twilight, and the mood set him immediately to composing. As he often does, he started by constructing the ten letters of the name Glacier Bay into musical notes. He divided these ten notes into three similar musical motifs, first three notes [G-E-A], then four notes [C-B-E-D], then three notes again [B-A-D]. These motifs open the piece, in a section that represents the eerie, misty, wet, half-lit morning. Then-expressing wonder and excitement upon seeing the beauty and majesty of Alaska’s glaciers-the motifs are connected with moving lines of notes that turn the original disconnected motifs into a flowing, uplifting melody. Between stops at the enormous bay’s different glaciers, the ship moved slowly through foggy vistas. The middle section of the piece represents this with a more dissonant, nervous sound. (Listen carefully for the sound of the ship’s fog horn-which really is a low F-sharp!-played by the cello.) But after passing through the fog, there was another awe-inspiring glacier, and so the music returns to the uplifting, flowing melody once again. Glacier Bay for String Trio Composed for the String Trio Black Diamonds: - Tamara Sieviieva - Mykyta Denysov - Anastasia Gorokhova  *** Upon waking to a mysterious foggy morning on the Norwegian Sun cruise ship in Glacier Bay, Alaska, I was almost immediately possessed by my Muse. (That’s the only way I can describe it; every moment that I was not composing-even WHILE looking at the beautiful, awe-inspiring glaciers! - I was hearing the melody in my head and aching to compose.)  *** Duration: 5m Composer: Arthur Breur Instruments: Violin, Cello, String Trio, String Trio (vn-vn-vc) Format: Score, Set of Parts Genres: 21st Century, Contemporary Classical, Post-Romantic, Neo-Classical Level: Intermediate https://www.floatinghomemusic.com

Published by Susan Brown (A0.1101781). 3 pieces for strings - a reflection of an unexpectedly fast changing world as witnessed since the beginning of this decade. Can be played as separate movements or flowing into each other. Passing opens with shock, disbelief and realisation that change has begun, followed by questioning why, and anger at at the loss of what was once a world understood to a feeling of being left behind. A feeling of the passing of time and lost youth gives way to self-pity and sadness. Anger follows, then resistance, then reflection on the speed of such change. Ultimately resignation. Looking back through the rose-tinted glasses of Reminiscing brings forth varied memories of times past and what hindsight deems to be 'those halcyon days'. Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1172139 Composed by Carrie Jacobs-Bond. Arranged by Phil Beaman. New Age,Romantic Period. Score. 2 pages. Phil Beaman #772405. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.1172139). The Lily and The Rose is a piano solo arrangement of the 1901 hit pop song by Carrie Jacobs-Bond, which was originally a ballad for voice and piano. This arrangement is mostly inspired by the original 12 bar tune.  I started with the original melody, then changed several of the notes; then doubled the note values before making further rhythmic changes.  Then I set it to a chromatically descending bass line.  Once I had completed that romantically inspired section, I changed the Time Signature and created a New Age section using a few of the melodic notes.  It becomes a unique and expressive piano solo.  2 page score; 2:00 minutesThis piece is also found in my book, Carrie Jacobs-Bond, Popular Songs 1900-1925, a collection of 51 of her songs I have arranged for piano solo, which is also available on this site.

Organ - advanced to difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q6218 Composed by Jean Guillou. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Op. 20. Duration 36 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q6218. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6218). This is the name given to the ancient tales and legends of Scandinavia, mostly drawn up in Iceland. The term itself is of Germanic origin, form the verb 'sagen' which means to say, to recount. The title also has to do with what is said, what is recounted, in a musical epic of today. Three of these pieces, Sagas 2, 4 and 6, have the particularity of being improvisations. In Saga 1, the instrument seems to awaken out of a dream of which the two opposing elements gradually become ordered. Pedal staccati soon take control and come to predominate as they build up while, in a spirit of contradiction, various solo steps, Cornet, Cromore, unfold their melismas. The dream then reestablishes itself, this time for good. The second Saga is a sombre, frenetic dance based on groups of five semiquaves. It dies away, then, after a long silence, a note emerges, and this lone note, on three different solo stops, beaten, hunted by its two neighbouring notes in increasingly animated accents, anacruses and appoggiaturas, disappears, giving way to the sombre dance which then broadens out. It is interrupted all of a sudden by the irritated, exasperated, fuming tone of that harshness that overdoes itself and vanishes. The sombre dance appears one last time, letting itself go into paroxym. The third Saga unfolds as a very ancient chant, the memory of an Ossianic chant of the earliest times. The fourth Saga develops the lyricism of a tale to be told. But in midway comes a sort of destructive outburst of which the ever tighter links give way for a moment to pure narrativity, which, after a few upsets, ends the piece with the memory of great danger overcome by candour. The fifth Saga is a kind of quiet walk, interspersed with a few controversies, interceptions and demonstrations that are rather more lively. The sixth Saga develops a kind of theme in runs, whose constantly rhythmic rebounding might bring out the idea of apologetic or exalted acclamation.
