The sax part is scored for tenor sax but includes an alto sax substitute, so you can use either horn without sacrificing a thing. The rhythm section calls for guitar, piano, bass, and drums. On the recording I only went through the solo section once (with a sax solo), but open solo space is cued for each instrument.Bringing the guitar player more into the forefront of the jazz combo is something I've been working on all year, starting with charts like M Groove where the chart calls for a rock 'n roll type guitar sound. Three Hundred Thousand Degrees extends that concept, giving the guitar some extra room to growl and contribute a nice crunch to the combo.Includes a full score and all parts. 61 pages (24 pages score, 37 pages parts). Starlit Waters, the 8th track from the debut album Reflections (2010). This is where it all began 'seriously' for me. Written in 1999, this piece won first prize in a composition competition and very much became the start of the journey of the whole album for the following 10 years! This was composed at a time in my life when I was using my pianistic skills to challenge my writing and vice versa. It was also at a time in my creative journey when I liked to cram as many different ideas into a piece of music as I possible could, something which I've been criticised for for my entire professional life (tough cookies I say!). It's definitely no coincidence that my interest in creating 'surprise' with sudden changes in music coincided with having Bohemian Rhapsody on constant repeat when was a kid!

Small as it is, Dettelbach – complete with medieval encircling fortified wall, Gothic parish church, late Gothic Town Hall, Pilgrimage church, and many half-timbered houses – has officially been a town since 1484. A very picturesque place! When my children were growing up, we had ‘Song Time’ at the piano every evening after dinner. During Advent, we’d sing innumerable English and German carols. This little collection of 12 carols, half English, half German, is just a tiny fraction of our favourites – as not all dear old Christmas carols lend themselves to a contemporary treatment. The main challenge here was to make the arrangements as simple, but as lyrical and contemporary as possible, with my piano students in mind, who are generally bored with standard arrangements of all-too-familiar Christmas songs.
