Piano,Recorder Solo,Soprano Recorder - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.898117 Composed by Willem de Fesch (1687-1761). Arranged by Douglas Brooks-Davies (1942-). Baroque,Concert. Individual part. 19 pages. Douglas Brooks-Davies #6287455. Published by Douglas Brooks-Davies (A0.898117). One of the Op 4 Sonatas (1725) and originally for violin, this Sonata In G has become a favourite with recorder players, though not easy to obtain. This edition contains (1) soprano recorder part, with editorial trills and mordents, plus a written out ornamented cadence to the penultimate bar of the opening Largo; (2) keyboard part with figured bass; (3) bass continuo (cello, viola da gamba, or bassoon).  All tempo markings are editorial; the keyboard realisation is editorial and can, of course, be modified at will, as can ornamentation of the recorder part.  NOTE: a limitation of my notation software has necessitated using hash for the figured bass sharp sign, and for the figured natural, I have used hash cancelled with a slash. A lovely, approachable Sonata.

Choral Choir (SSAA) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1040536 By Alan Wagstaff. By Alan Wagstaff. Arranged by Alan Wagstaff. Celtic,Folk,Irish,Traditional. Octavo. 45 pages. Alan Wagstaff #639233. Published by Alan Wagstaff (A0.1040536). 'Do As You Will' is a folksy, Celtic feel choral song arranged for SSAA -with harp, flute, fiddle, and accordion accompaniment. Its shifting tonality adds complexity. The lyric is female point of view: Do As You Will Once I had a soldier lad who swore he’d love me truly. Ah! But now those days are gone! When the battle raged he turned his heel and followed duly. I gave him the salute and soldiered on. The wind’s about the barley and the mice are in the meal, so rise up bright and early all young lasses if you would do as you will. Then I loved a farmer’s son whose trinkets were his kisses. Ah! But now those days are gone! But on the road to market he had scores of narrow misses. I tossed him out for chaff and ploughed straight on. The wind’s about the barley and the mice are in the meal, so rise up bright and early all young lasses if you would do as you will. Next I had a blacksmith who was swarthy, dark, and handsome. Ah! But now those days are gone! He stole away my store of coin and ran off with the ransom. I hope he finds the fires! I’m forging on! The wind’s about the barley and the mice are in the meal, so rise up bright and early all young lasses if you would do as you will. Jack the Tinker courted me, and he was ever willing. Ah! But now those days are gone! Everywhere he plied his trade he fell to Jack and Jilling. I rattled his old pans and wandered on. The wind’s about the barley and the mice are in the meal, so rise up bright and early all young lasses if you would do as you will. There’s no faith in any man, not even my own brother. Ah! But would those days were gone! Girls, if you but would, or can, you’d best love one another and leave them all behind and carry on! The wind’s about the barley and the mice are in the meal, so rise up bright and early all young lasses if you would do as you will.

Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Instructional,Traditional. 15 pages. Jmsgu3 #849209. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1255701). 1. Farnaby's Dreame2. His Rest - Galiard3. His Humour4. FinaleGiles Farnaby was an English composer and virginalist during the late 16th and early 17th centuries. He is known for his contributions to Elizabethan and Jacobean music. He was born around 1560 and lived during the reigns of Queen Elizabeth I and King James I. He was a contemporary of other notable English composers such as William Byrd and John Dowland. Farnaby's compositions are known for their variety of styles. He wrote pieces that ranged from lively dance tunes to more intricate and introspective works. His music often featured elements of English folk melodies and dance rhythms.Giles Farnaby's Fantasias are significant for their role in developing keyboard music, their influence on later composers, and their historical documentation of musical practices in late Renaissance England. Farnaby's music often displays a lively and whimsical character, with syncopations, rapid passagework, and playful ornamentation. His style was influenced by the continental keyboard music of his time, especially that of the English virginalists like John Bull and William Byrd. However, Farnaby's compositions also have a distinct character, marked by their dance-like rhythms and catchy melodies.Although Farnaby's music fell out of favor during the Baroque period, there has been a resurgence of interest in his works in the modern era. Musicians and scholars have rediscovered and recorded his compositions, helping to revive his legacy.
