Text:
To see his face, this newborn infant Son,
is to look upon pure brilliance like the sun.
To see his form, with glory in a stall,
hints for me to kneel and touch his swaddling shawl.

To see his face, to gaze upon his eyes,
is to know his strength which someday will supply
the greatest gift mankind will ever know . . .
He will give his life, his perfect love to show.

To hear his cries, I weep with gratitude
celebrating love, his sacrifice and wounds.
I bow my head in reverence for his Name.
He will take my sins, releasing me from shame.

To see his face, the very Son of God,
is to look upon perfection never flawed.
I speak his Name, this newborn heavn’ly Child,
and I know, from Him, to God I’m reconciled.

I lift my voice in songs of heartfelt praise.
On this Christmas morn to Him my eyes will stay.
I feel his love; I sense his warm embrace
as I look upon his ever-faithful face.

At the table of remembrance, we recall God’s saving deeds.
When the spirit of death passed o’er us, when God’s holy manna filled our needs,
mighty God came near to us and He drew us to His breast.
We will thank the Lord forever for our lives that He has blessed.

For what is more precious than communion with the Lord
at the table of the Lord?

At the table of remembrance are more blessings from the Lord.
Eat the bread that Jesus broke for us, drink the wine that He has poured. 
Of His body these are tokens of the sacrifice He made.
Jesus loves us, He is with us, and our souls He has saved.

For what is more holy than communion with the Lord
at the table of the Lord?

At the table of remembrance all are welcome, all belong
at the Lord’s wondrous feast of love, where we’ll sing a banquet song..
Praise the Lord for this bread of life and this holy cup of grace.

A setting of words from Hebrews 12:2 (chorus) with verses encouraging faith and hope in the midst of a painful situation.

Sources of inspiration for this song were threefold: firstly the Scripture from Hebrews 12 was my baptism verse, on Easter Sunday 1979; secondly, from Corrie ten Boom´s ´The Hiding Place´, where her sister Betsy tells Corrie not to look at the wounds she´d received from the concentration camp guards, but to look instead at Jesus and fix her eyes on him; and thirdly, from C S Lewis´ ´The Magician´s Nephew´, where Digory wants so desperately for Aslan to cure his mother who is terminally ill, but the great Lion sets him a task instead which will protect all of Narnia for years to come; Digory is looking down at Aslan´s paws, his heart heavy, but as he looks up into the Lion´s face, what he sees there surprises him very deeply – for Aslan´s eyes are filled with tears. He realizes that Aslan cares even more deeply about Digory´s mother than he himself.

For soloist, 4–part choir and piano accompaniment. Guitar chords also included.

Love ev’ry friend alike, or enemy.
Lighten each burden shown from suff’ring souls.
Shepherd them to His side; He will make each whole.

How can my walk through life show God I care?
Will others know to trust so I can share?
How do I reach each one when in a crowd?
Can I still help these souls ev’n though sin abounds?

Follow His ev’ry step; go where He leads.
Give of your meager store when one’s in need.
Search for the lonely heart with eyes attuned.
Loving each child of God can diminish wounds.
