Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1277135 Composed by 15th Century French Melody. Arranged by Judith L. Maggs. Advent,Christian,Christmas,Religious,Sacred. Score. 5 pages. Maggs #868823. Published by Maggs (A0.1277135). The origins of this beautiful hymn tune go back to 15th century France. It is based on plainsong. O Come, O Come, Emmanuel is a beautiful hymn sung and played during the season of Advent in many churches. This arrangement, in the key of E minor, is thoughtful and flowing. It is quite easily played by an advanced level pianist. This arrangement is also available in my collection: “Advent at the Piano,†which includes 8 piano arrangements for Advent and is available on this site.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1147806 By David Neff. By David Neff. 20th Century,Christmas,Holiday,Religious,Sacred. Score. 6 pages. David Neff #748001. Published by David Neff (A0.1147806). The medieval German Christmas carol Joseph Lieber, Joseph Mein comes from the cradling scene of a 15th-century mystery play. It gently sways in 6/8 time, mimicking the feel of rocking an infant. These five variations for piano explore a wide range of moods familiar to every parent. In the carol, Mary asks Joseph to help her with their child, and almost like a thoroughly modern man, Joseph eagerly agrees to rock the baby. These variations are most appropriate for the Christmas season, but also in Catholic communities that observe St. Joseph's Day on March 19.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1346783 Composed by Phil Beaman. Advent,Christmas,Jazz,Renaissance. Score. 2 pages. Phil Beaman #931565. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.1346783). This jazz composition is based on the hauntingly beautiful 15th century medieval tune that is commonly used for the Advent carol O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.  I have reharmonized it with the accompaniment in a Key Signature a fifth above that of the melody.  The LH has a two chord ostinato throughout written as a walking bass line.  I have altered the melody and moved much of it to the off beats.  As in period early music, I allow occassional dissonances in order to keep the ostinato.  This piece makes a wonderfully useful and unique addition to the season's repertoire.  (I have also published a version on this site with text so it can be sung by a soloist or unison choir.)  (And also some versions for Instrumental Duets.)2 pages, 2:05 minutes.
