SKU: A0.1025143

Composed by Kirk O'Riordan. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 12 pages. Kirk O'Riordan #4357415. Published by Kirk O'Riordan (A0.1025143).

Water Lilies for Solo Piano is the second in a series of Water Lilies pieces, which also includes versions for chamber winds and orchestra. Each version is based on the same melodic idea; in each piece this idea is developed using different compositional procedures. The result is a series of noticeably related but distinct pieces. The idea for these pieces comes from my impressions of an exhibit of Monet's Water Lilies at the Musée de L’Orangerie in Paris. The room that these magnificent works are displayed in is in the shape of an oval; and when sitting in the middle of the room one has the distinct impression that one is in the middle of Monet's pond.

My Water Lilies are not necessarily an attempt to reproduce each painting in sound; rather, they represent the attempt to reproduce the feeling of being surrounded by these images, which from far away seem perfectly clear and photographic but up close are rather blurry and repetitive. Indeed, Monet's genius lies in his ability to make his audience look upon his art from afar, taking in the whole view at once rather than focusing on the details of its construction. This series of pieces attempts to recreate this effect in sound.

Water Lilies was composed for pianist Holly Roadfeldt. Her recording of the work appears on the CD Strange Flowers (Ravello Records).

SKU: A0.1175126

Composed by Franz Xaver Gruber. Arranged by Noah Stremmel. Christmas,Classical,Contemporary,Jazz,Religious. Score. 7 pages. Noah Stremmel #775279. Published by Noah Stremmel (A0.1175126).

The goal of this arrangement was to capture the atmosphere of a spiritual darkness - not just including feelings of peace and joy, but also worry and hesitancy by blurring the line between major and minor. The melody often goes unfinished, returning to the theme of the opening statement. There are also melodic references to Night of Silence by Daniel Kantor. This piece is quite harmonically complex to mirror the complexity of the sacredness and spirituality that can be experienced in times of silence and darkness.

SKU: A0.933374

Composed by Michael S. Bryson. 20th Century,Contemporary,Standards. Score. 13 pages. Bryson Music #495011. Published by Bryson Music (A0.933374).

An exciting advanced piano solo. Duration: approx. 8 min. 1. Marche Humoresque - an energetic march that includes LH tone clusters. Inspired by the finale of Ravel's Piano Concerto for the LH. People often comment that this movement reminds them of a parade of cartoon characters. 2. Nocturne - begins as a gentle lullaby that builds to a majestic climax before fading away into mysterious chords. The return of the tender opening melody will bring tears to your listeners' eyes. 3. Presto - blurring and frantically playful with a bombastic conclusion to the set. Michael S. Bryson (ASCAP) www.michaelsbryson.com Contact me with any questions: michaelsbryson@gmail.com.

Composed by Aaron Lee. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary. Score. 38 pages. J. Aaron Lee #567586. Published by J. Aaron Lee (A0.961877).

From the Japanese “bukimi no tani†(first used by Dr. Mori in 1970), “uncanny valley†refers to the concept that imperfect humanoid objects will evoke uncanny or uneasy feelings in a viewer. Similarly, I believe that there can be an uneasy disconnect in concert venues when listening to pre-recorded sound, especially as it begins to approximate the sounds of real, on-stage performers. Simulacrum explores this concept by intermingling both a live and pre-recorded piano into a singular texture. Blurring and obscuring the lines between what is human and what is digital, this work actively tasks the listener with reconciling the two aspects into a unified listening experience. SKU: A0.1311946

Composed by Rocco Di Pietro. 20th Century,21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival. Score. 25 pages. Rocco Di Pietro #900839. Published by Rocco Di Pietro (A0.1311946).

The Left hand plays the note first, while the right hand bounces off the same note in a ricochet.
Use the right-forte pedal lightly and constantly, but do not blur, the pedal must be used in accordance with each rubato and phrase, as in Chopin but subtly enough to render Molto Cantabile e Brilliante. Constantly, means up and down frequently, do not hold pedal down, a cluster blur is not desired, in this first part of the score. Later on, pedal markings will indicate a blend of the sound, when  wanted.
The first performance was by the composer at The Darmstadt Ferienkurse für Neue Musik in 1978. The work was part of the piano seminar of Herbrt Hencke and was considered unplayable by one pianist.
The American premire took place by the composer in 1979 on Julius Eastman's Festival at the
The Third Street Music School in New York.
The local premiere took place once again by the composer on a Creative Associates concert in Baird Hall at SUNY Buffalo in 1979 on a program of works by Giacinto Scelsi.
The Ohio premeire took place in 1995 at the Wexner Center for the Arts at The Ohio State University played by the composer for the last time where it was danced by the Vicki Uris Dance Company.

SKU: A0.862695

Composed by Liszt, F. Arranged by Michael Bomier. Contemporary,Romantic Period,Standards. Score. 6 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #5313641. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862695).

Here is the iconic and accessible music of that larger collection of Consolations and Libestraums.
The presentation here uses 12/8 as the time signature, such that all the triplets in the LH are now the foundational rhythm, rather than a triplet addendum throughout. The RH melody uses a few duplets, which are much less visually confusing than the original. The LH part has chord symbols, so as to fully announce and integrate the arpeggiated harmony underneath this tune. The pedaling uses the original edtion marks with some added or edited to reflect the modern piano and modern practices. Low tones reflect when the notes start, and might not fully extend time-wise below, since the piano of Liszt's day was thinner, and could hold blurred harmony longer. The final low note is added ala' Horowitz. Enjoy!
