Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. It was written primarily by John Lennon and credited to the Lennonā€“McCartney songwriting partnership.Lennon's son Julian inspired the song with a nursery school drawing that he called Lucy ā€“ in the sky with diamonds. Shortly before the album's release, speculation arose that the first letter of each of the title nouns intentionally spelled LSD, the initialism commonly used for the hallucinogenic drug lysergic acid diethylamide.Lennon repeatedly denied that he had intended it as a drug song. He attributed the song's fantastical imagery to his reading of Lewis Carroll's Alice in WonderlandĀ books.

Contemporary. 11 pages. RayThompsonMusic #6495521. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.554017). I Am the Walrus is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1967 television film Magical Mystery Tour. Written by John Lennon and credited to Lennonā€“McCartney, it was released as the B-side to the single Hello, Goodbye and on the Magical Mystery TourEP and album. In the film, the song underscores a segment in which the band mime to the recording at a deserted airfield.Lennon wrote the song to confound listeners who had been affording serious scholarly interpretations of the Beatles' lyrics. He was partly inspired by two LSD trips and Lewis Carroll's 1871 poem The Walrus and the Carpenter. Compositionally, every musical letter of the alphabet is invoked and every chord is a major or a seventh. Producer George Martin arranged and added orchestral accompaniment that included violins, cellos, horns, and clarinet. The Mike Sammes Singers, a 16-voice choir of professional studio vocalists, also joined the recording, variously singing nonsense lines and shrill whooping noises.Since the Hello, Goodbye single and the Magical Mystery TourĀ EP both reached the top two slots on the British singles chart in December, I Am the Walrus holds the distinction of reaching numbers one and two simultaneously. Shortly after release, the song was banned by the BBC for the line Boy, you've been a naughty girl, you let your knickers down. Arranged wood wind quartet: fl, ob, cl and bsn.

Arranged wind quartetNow and Then is a song by the English rock band the Beatles, released on 2 November 2023. Dubbed the last Beatles song, it appeared on a double A-side single, paired with a new stereo remix of the band's first single, Love Me Do (1962), with the two serving as bookends to the band's history. Now and Then is a psychedelic soft rock balladthat John Lennon wrote and recorded around 1977 as a solo home demo but left unfinished. After Lennon's death in 1980, the song was considered as a potential third Beatles reunion single for their 1995–1996 retrospective project The Beatles Anthology, following Free as a Bird and Real Love, both based on two other Lennon demos of the same names.Instead, it was shelved for nearly three decades, until it was completed by his surviving bandmates Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, using overdubs and guitar tracks by George Harrison (who died in 2001) from the abandoned 1995 sessions.Arranged here for wind quartet, the oboe takes most of the melodyThe video is my wind quintet arrangement.

Ā Day Tripper is a song by the English rock band the Beatles that was released as a double A-side single with We Can Work It Out on December 3, 1965.Written primarily by John Lennon, it was credited to the Lennonā€“McCartney partnership. Both songs were recorded during the sessions for the band's Rubber Soul album. The single topped charts in Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands and Norway. In the United States, Day Tripper peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and We Can Work It Out held the top position.Day Tripper is a rock song based around an electric guitar riff and drawing on the influence of American soul music. The Beatles included it in their concert set-list until their retirement from live performances in late August 1966. The single was the first example of a double A-side in Britain Its success popularised the format and, in giving equal treatment to two songs, allowed recording artists to show their versatility. The band's use of promotional films to market the single anticipated the modern music video. In the UK, Day Tripper / We Can Work It Out was the seventh highest selling single of the 1960s. As of December 2018, it was the 54th best-selling single of all time in the UK ā€“ one of six Beatles singles included in the top sales rankings published by the Official Charts Company.Video is my brass quartet arrangementCheck out my other Beatles Quartets.

Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Pop,Wedding. 13 pages. RayThompsonMusic #1003267. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1421929). The Word is a song by English rock band The Beatles, written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney and recorded with Lennon on lead vocals. It was first released on their 1965 album Rubber Soul.Musically, the song is founded on a driving funk beat, with few chord changes and a simple melody in the key of D major.(The refrain is a 12 bar blues in D. The main chord is D7(ā™Æ9), also used in Drive My Car and Taxman.)John Lennon had felt during his youth that love had been the answer, and had written The Word as his first expression of the concept. He had felt that love was an underlying theme of the universe, and that love was fundamental in many things, which had inspired the lyric In the good and bad books that I have read. The song is credited to Lennon-McCartney, however Lennon had stated that it was mainly mine.It had marked the first time the Beatles had written a song about love as a concept, which would become important in the band's later work.Paul McCartney said of this song, John and I would like to do songs with just one note like 'Long Tall Sally'. We get near it in 'The Word'Arranged here for wind quartet, the flute takes verse 1 and is joined in harmony by the clarinet for verse 2.Verse 3 is taken by the oboe, and all 3 top instruments take the melody, and chordal harmony for verse 4 Ā till the end,The bassoon takes the bass guitar riff throughout. The mp3 starts just before the 4th verse.

Bassoon covers bass guitarInterest in all parts!!Great fun with mixed time sigs!!Ā Good Morning Good Morning is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.It was written by John Lennon and credited to Lennonā€“McCartney. Inspiration for the song came to Lennon from a television commercial for Kellogg's Corn Flakes.Another reference to contemporary television was the lyric It's time for tea and Meet the Wife, referring to the BBC sitcom. Lennon himself was critical of the track. It's a throwaway, a piece of garbage, I always thought, he once said. I always had the TV on very low in the background when I was writing, and it came over, and then I wrote the songThe song is played at 117 beats per minute, has an unusual rhythmic feel, and uses different time signatures. Beats are played in groups of 2, 3 and 4, and time signature changes frequently. Parts with 5/4 and 4/4 bars alternate, with 3/4 transitions. Most of the song uses simple time, where the beats are divided into two, but the middle eight sections use compound time, where the beats are divided into triplets.YouTube vid is my brass quartet arrangement.

The album includes the song A Hard Day's Night, with its distinctive opening chord, and Can't Buy Me Love, both transatlantic number-one singles for the band. Several of the songs feature George Harrison playing a Rickenbacker 12-string electric guitar, a sound that was influential on the Byrds and other groups in the folk rock movement. The mp3 excerpt is the verse leading into the instrumental break.

Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Pop. 8 pages. RayThompsonMusic #370744. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.763033). We Can Work It Out is a song by the English rock band the Beatles, written by Paul McCartneyand John Lennon. It was first issued as a double A-side single with Day Tripper in December 1965.It also appeared on the 1966 US release Yesterday and Today. The release marked the first time in Britain that both tracks on an artist's single were promoted as joint A-sides.The song was recorded during the sessions for the band's Rubber Soul album. The single was number 1 in Britain (where it won the Ivor Novello Award for the top-selling A-side of 1965), the United States, Australia, Canada and Ireland. In the UK, it was the seventh highest selling single of the 1960s. We Can Work It Out is a comparatively rare example of a Lennonā€“McCartney collaboration from this period in the Beatles' career, in that it recalls the level of collaboration the two songwriters had shared when writing the group's hit singles of 1963. This song, A Day in the Life, Baby, You're a Rich Man and I've Got a Feeling, are among the notable exceptions. Arranged wind quartet: fl, ob, cl and bsn. Melody is shared amongst 3 treble clef instruments, bassoon provides steady bass line. Video is the clarinet quartet version.
