â€œO xote das Meninasâ€ is a xote by Luiz Gonzaga and ZÃ© Dantas, originally recorded on February 5, 1953, becoming one of the most popular pieces in their repertoire. Gonzaga re-recorded it six years later, for his LP â€œMeus Sucessos com ZÃ© Dantasâ€ and an instrumental version, in 1972, for the LP â€œSÃ£o-JoÃ£o Quenteâ€. According to ZÃ© Dantas: His verses begin by singing the mandacaru, a cactus that does not depend on the rain to bloom, a phenomenon that, when it happens in the dry season, makes the caboclo believe that the thunderstorm is approaching. This superstition led us to establish a simile between the mandacaru flower, a prodromal sign of the rain that arrives giving the earth fecundity, and the girl who, getting sick of the doll, becomes a woman.

Feeling Good (also known as Feelin' Good) is a song written by English composers Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse for the musical The Roar of the Greasepaint â€“ The Smell of the Crowd. It was first performed on stage in 1964 by Cy Grant on the UK tour and by Gilbert Price in 1965 with the original Broadway cast.

Nina Simone recorded Feeling Good for her 1965 album I Put a Spell on You. The song has also been covered by Sammy Davis Jr., Traffic, Michael BublÃ©, John Coltrane, George Michael, Victory, Eels, Joe Bonamassa, Eden, Muse, Black Cat Bones, Bassnectar, Sophie B. Hawkins, Leslie West, Avicii, ChlÃ¶e and Lauryn Hill among others. It was also performed by John Legend as part of the Celebrating America performance marking the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on January 20, 2021.
