Contredanse K15h and KV Anh 109b, no 6; 5. Allegro, K15a; Contredanse, K15gg . The originals are untitled. I have used the titles in The London Sketchbook, transcribed RSB (IMSLP). Published by Douglas Brooks-Davies (A0.898108). An exciting new anthem for solo soprano, SATB choir and keyboard on the familiar text from Numbers 6:24-6. The first and last sections of the anthem repeat each other, and are in call and response format between soloist and chorus. The middle section is a rather lovely tune, which changes the opening section's D minor to an exuberant D major. The keyboard maintains an arpeggiated ostinato accompaniment throughout. The piece would suit any service in which a contemporary rhythmical setting is welcome.

The original, entitled Variations sur l'Air Gestern Abend war Vetter Michel da (c. 1815), is for csakan in G and guitar (sounding in C). This arrangement retains the original key and fingering (csakan fingering is virtually identical to that of the recorder), and offers an accompaniment that retains the lightness and transparency of the original guitar chording.
