I classify it Early Intermediate because of its musicality.   It's basically a single note melody accompanied by chords.  However, the chords are just not plopped down.  There is attention to good voice leading and gentle rhythmic movement which helps accompany the beautiful singing melody of this famous ballad from the Beatles.  This arrangement will also be satisfying to adult beginners in search of something with a bit of art contained in this easy, yet musical arrangement.

Sam, You Made the Pants Too Long is a very humorous song about a tailor that made a client a perfect outfit except for one minor detail, ..... the pants were too long!! This song follows the pattern of a Recitative-Aria. The first dozen bars are rather declamatory exclaiming the problem. This story is immediately elaborated in the shuffle rhythm of the song.This arrangement tries to capture the humor and irony of the lyrics. A good performance will require a lot of wit and dynamism. The Recitative can be done very freely, but the Song (Aria) need to keep a steady rhythm with a lot of punch at the climax points. Play the middle section of the song in a more relaxed manner and in the final repetition of the main theme be your most expressive. End strong. This arrangement therefore has a lot of teaching value making students use their imagination in crafting a good interpretation and telling a story.  Sam , You Made the Pants Too Long is a great novelty piece for a number that would especially stand out at a recital. It's also a great piece for a social gathering.

Rolling Stone magazine listed Norwegian Wood number 83 in the list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.I tried to give this special song a more artistic treatment.  I give it an introduction and an ending to help this main body of the song stand out.  The notes themselves are simple enough but if one follows the touches carefully observing all the placements of staccato and legato writing one will find a lot of musical satisfaction in this arrangement. This arrangement will help awaken the artistic sense of your students.I see this arrangement being a hit at recitals, talent shows, family gatherings and shared with friends.  I think adult students will also find this arrangement substantive and a pleasure to play and not just a perfunctory arrangement that doesn't go much beyond a melody accompanied by chords. I imagine this melody being played on a sailor's hornpipe. Returning from these long journeys must have been a joyous time.
