Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.811754 Composed by W. A. MOZART 91756 - 1791). Arranged by Pat Spence. Classical,Concert,Graduation,Wedding. 42 pages. Piper Publications #5805567. Published by Piper Publications (A0.811754). This arrangement of Mozart's first string quartet composed between 1770 and 1773 when he was still a teenager and pupil of his father, Leopold, is, nevertheless, a remarkable achievement. The string quartet pioneered by Haydn was still a very new format. The Rondo added in 1773 at the suggestion of Leopold completed the four movements which became the usual format. The movements  - Adagio, Allegro, Menuetto & Trio and Rondo provide fairly equal interest for all four players and this arrangement for flute, oboe, clarinet in A and bassoon of at least intermediate standard. If the oboe part in bar/measures 9/10 of the first movement sounds familiar, Mozart re-used and expanded this in the second movement of his concerto for flute & harp K.299.

The piece showcases Gurlitt's mastery in crafting charming and evocative music, making it a joy for pianists to play and audiences to listen to. The musical device of appoggiatura is used extensively in the first section to good effect, adding colours to the texture. Consideration is given to a 'cleaner' pedalling in the marking, but it's up to players to adjust as appropriate with due consideration to the acoustic of the space and the piano it's played on.

Saxophone Quintet,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813402 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Instructional,Multicultural,Standards,World. 43 pages. Regis Bookshar #6209825. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813402). Saxophone Quintet - Advanced - Digital Download. This must-have arrangement would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals and could also be performed for church services. This brilliant work by Johann Sebastian Bach is an adaptation of Antonio Vivaldi's Concerto for Four Violins and String Orchestra in B minor. Bach had gotten to know Vivaldi's concertos while he was an organist at Weimar, where he transcribed ten of them for solo harpsichord and six of them for organ. Originally written in B minor, Bach transposed it to A minor and, while preserving the melodic outline as conceived by Vivaldi for four violins, this later adaptation, from around 1730, for four harpsichords and string orchestra, is far more ambitious. In it, Bach has both tightened and expanded Vivaldi's counterpoint, enriched it with lusher harmonies and expanded the solo parts with greater complexity and greater clarity. The result is a composition that actually improves on the original work. Written in the standard three-movement concerto form of the Baroque period, Bach's Concerto for Four Claviers in A minor is a virtuoso piece for the soloists. Regis Bookshar has now rearranged the first movement of this concerto, marked Allegro, for a Saxophone Quintet, consisting of 2 Alto Saxophones, 2 Tenor Saxophones and 1 Baritone Saxophone, while maintaining the energy and virtuosity of Bach's original work. This arrangement is intended to be performed by accomplished players. It may prove to be a huge challenge for many players, but, I think, it will be worth the effort. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (43 pages). In addition to this version for a Saxophone Quintet, other arrangements of this selection are also available for a variety of Instrumental Quintets, some of which are in the original key of Concert A minor and some have been transposed to Concert G minor, making it a little easier for some performers, as well as numerous other arrangements in a wide variety of styles. I would encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar. You may find something else which might interest you as well. I'm certain that this exciting arrangement will be a challenge to many performers but will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed working on it.

Small Ensemble Clarinet,Flute,Oboe,Trumpet,Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.811780 Composed by Josepg Bodin De Boismortier (1689 - 1755). Arranged by Edited & arranged by Pat Spence. Baroque,Concert,Graduation,Standards. Score and parts. 16 pages. Piper Publications #6285081. Published by Piper Publications (A0.811780). This Suite is the last of a set of six first published by Boivin in Paris in 1727 for two musettes (bagpipes). This arrangement is for pairs of flutes or oboes or violins or two different instruments. It is also suitable for a pair of clarinets or trumpets. The five movements, Prelude, Rondeau. Passacaille, Boureé, Brunette & a pair of Menuets are suitable for players of early intermediate standard and above. The original edition used the ‘violin clef’ which placed the g above middle c on the bottom line of the stave instead of the line above as is usual today. The notation has been modernised for ease of reading. All edits have been indicated using dashed lines or parentheses ( ). No dynamics are marked in the original edition since bagpipes do not usually have means of volume control. The dynamics I have added (in parentheses) are suggestions only. The Suite would have been bought and played by flute, oboe and violin players as well as bagpipers. Boismortier wrote and published a substantial number of chamber works aimed at amateur players which were very popular and made him a very wealthy man.
