In Medias Res: Fanfare (begins at 0:00 in the mp3 file) is a showy, energetic, brief, humorous beginning.2. Ricercar (begins at 0:33 in the mp3 file) uses the imitative techniques of 16th century instrumental music, with modern harmonies.3. For JSB (begins at 3:25 in the mp3 file) was composed in loving homage to Johann Sebastian Bach.4. Burlesca (begins at 6:15 in the mp3 file) is another moment of humor and energy.5. Nocturne (begins at 8:04 in the mp3 file) is, of course, night music.6. Passacaglia (begins at 11:04 in the mp3 file) continues without break from the Nocturne. It is one of the principal dances of the celebration of Virgen del Carmen in Paucartambo, Cusco - Peru�. Its main characters, which are little devils, bother the Virgen del Carmen during its traditional passacaglia dance by making jokes and climbing on the rooftops. The dancers wear fabulous out ts with lots of colors to represent the rainbow and sunrise. These clothes are ornamented and embroidered with shapes of prey birds, reptiles, applications, and rhinestones. The performers wear characteristic masks in the form of bats, pigs, cats, dogs, or other animals while also wearing claws, large wigs, handkerchiefs, and a colorful cane with sleighbells. This is an arrangement made for flute ensemble (C flutes). Each voice has a different difficulty starting at a very beginner level. It's rythmic character will make it fun and easy to play for little flutists. Enjoy!

Framing the movement the introduction is repeated at the end.The character of the second movement Ostinato is moulded by an ascending four-note motive contrasted by a damper-pedalled eight-tone sequence developing into a short melody. It is about 6 minutes in length and probably used as music for the theatre. The Chancony or Chaconne has been arranged for 8-part Trombone Ensemble in two choirs by Ralph Sauer for moderately advanced performers. The work uses a repeated ground bass line in 3/4 meter and could have easily been called a Passacaglia by the composer.

The unaccompanied monologues of the 1st Stasis lead to the virtuosic dialogues of the 2nd and to the general fortissimo tutti of the 3d. The work has a version with narration on the prototype text of the traditional ritual.    It was written on November 2009 for the Q innegal Wind Quintet which gave the premier at the German Evangelic Church in Athens next year and is dedicated to composer’s stepmother, Eleni, who died after the completion of the work. Point of departure is the eternal conflict between light and darkness, hope and despair, vision and nightmare, spiritual formation and inner confusion, being together and being apart, past and future, life and death. Leading by love (eros), a series of sudden thoughts and premonitions and the composer's inner visions on Service's text is a vehicle, a canvas for this composition. It follows a multilanguage style between serial-atonal and tonal idiom. It consists of an introduction which is repeated variated at the end as an epilogue and nine variations, each of a different character - independent but following one another without a pause: 1.
