2 Bfl, 2 Fl, 2 Zinken, 3 Pos, Str, Bc (Org) cornetto II - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q6129 Marienvesper. Composed by Claudio Monteverdi. This edition: separate part. Eulenburg Orchestral Series. Downloadable, Individual part. Duration 70 minutes. Ernst Eulenburg & Co. GmbH - Digital #Q6129. Published by Ernst Eulenburg & Co. GmbH - Digital (S9.Q6129). Latin.Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610 is a work which has both fascinated and perplexed musicologists and performers for many years. It forms by far the larger part of the composer's first significant publication of sacred music, entitled: 'Of the most blessed virgin a Mass for six voices for church choirs, and Vespers for more voices with several sacred concertos suitable for princely chapels or apartments'. By the time this publication appeared, Monteverdi had been in the service of the Gonzaga court at Mantua for at least 18 years, and he was seeking a change of employment, so that the dedication of the volume to the reigning pope, Paul V, may be interpreted as a form of self-advertisement. Originally issued as an Urtext study score, the edition is based closely on the extant printed source, the set of partbooks published at Venice in 1610, and retains the original note values, key and mensuration signatures.

Digital Download SKU: A0.878587 By Anonymous 4. By Anonymous: Las Huelgas Codex (c. 1400). Arranged by Susan Hellauer. Early Music,Medieval,Religious,Sacred. 3 pages. Susan Hellauer #3213155. Published by Susan Hellauer (A0.878587). Anonymous sequence from the Las Huelgas Codex (c. 1300) from Anonymous 4's recording Secret Voices (2011; harmonia mundi 807510). Duration: 2' 58. This cheerful liturgical song was sung by the 12th-century nuns of the royal convent of Las Huelgas, in north central Spain. The medieval sequence (sequentia) is a part of the Proper of the Mass, following the Alleluia and is characterized by a double-versicle structure (1a-1b, 2a-2b, etc. for any number of stanzas). They were written in great numbers, for the highest feasts, as well as for the lowliest local saints. With a few exceptions (e.g., Victimae paschali laudes, Dies irae), most of them were expunged in the 16th century by the Council of Trent. We sing this piece a step lower than notated. Feel free to sing this work, and any work from this time period, at whatever pitch is comfortable, and allows the lyrics to be clearly articulated. We have also added the extra foot of rest [bracketed] at the end of each half verse. Score includes translation and performance notes.
