By Sharon Wilson. By Robert Lowry. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. Praise & Worship,Romantic Period,Sacred,Traditional. Score. 2 pages. Sharon Wilson #4320335. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.565411).

Designed for those times when a short, musical interlude is needed, here is a 2-page, LARGE PRINT piano solo arrangement of the beloved hymn We’re Marching to Zion. This flowing, yet upbeat arrangement will inspire its listeners and fill their hearts with hope and joy. This song is a perfect choice to use as an offertory or postlude.

This arrangement is one of the 7 songs in the collection Hymns of Heaven. Each song in this collection was chosen because the lyrics talk about the joys of heaven.

Lyrics by Isaac Watts:
Verse 1:
Come, we that love the Lord,
And let our joys be known;
Join in a song with sweet accord,
Join in a song with sweet accord,
And thus surround the throne,
And thus surround the throne.

Chorus:
We’re marching to Zion,
Beautiful, beautiful Zion;
We’re marching upward to Zion,
The beautiful city of God.

Verse 2:
Let those refuse to sing
Who never knew our God;
But children of the heav’nly King,
But children of the heav’nly King
May speak their joys abroad,
May speak their joys abroad.

Verse 3:
The hill of Zion yields
A thousand sacred sweets
Before we reach the heav’nly fields,
Before we reach the heav’nly fields
Or walk the golden streets,
Or walk the golden streets.

Verse 4:
Then let our songs abound
And ev’ry tear be dry;
We’re marching thru Immanuel’s ground,
We’re marching thru Immanuel’s ground
To fairer worlds on high,
To fairer worlds on high.

SKU: A0.1008082

Composed by Connie Pwll Walck Tyler. Contemporary,Sacred. Score and parts. 14 pages. Connie Tyler #4607671. Published by Connie Tyler (A0.1008082).

This piece, for soprano and alto duet with piano and flute, speaks of the persistence of the dove, the peace maker, faced with war, famine, poverty, etc. It was written when the United States went to war with Afghanistan and Representative Barbara Lee stood up and was the lone voice against war. Although the piece is secular, the use of the symbol of the dove would work well in religious services.
The piece involves a two against three rhythm which suggests the difficulties the dove faces flying for peace against the overwhelming odds of war.
The .mp3 file is computer generated with choral oohs for the voices. The words are:

Now the dove flies, sails the war-torn skies,
feels the wind rip through her wings.
Tossed and turned now, cries of war howl,
tear-ing through her, and she still sings.

Sings to march-ers on crowd-ed streets
sing-ing songs of love and songs of peace.
Tips her wings to those who dare stand tall,
speak re-sound-ing no's in hal-lowed halls.

They say that that sin means to miss the mark.
I have so man-y times aimed in the dark.
We fail in lit-tle ways, be-tray our friends.
It was-n't planned that way.
Dis-trac-tion leads to e-vil ends.

The sha-dow fear clouds our at-ten-tion.
Mind falls a-stray in-to dis-sen-sion.
Ig-no rance can twist the dart
and then it falls far from the mark.

Na-tions, too, a-stray our free-doms bend
‘til some have bombed away all chance at friends.

We see glo-ry mag-ni-fied.
Shout our prais-es to the to the skies.
Build our mon-u-ments to our wars,
for-get-ting the needs of of weak and poor.

And still the dove flies while the earth cries
pol-lu-ted with more de-bris of war.
Child-ren sick now, soldiers cry foul!
Dove is weep-ing and yet she hums.

Hums to child-ren who die
de-spite moth-ers' deep cries.
Sings to young who march to war,
de-spite fa-thers' out-raged roars.
Wings o-ver fa-mine and drought,
pol-lu-ted wa-ter, pol-lu-ted ground.
Folds us un-der her down-y breast.
Warms us in her gen tle nest.

Yes, the dove flies. Sails the wa- torn skies.
Feels the wind rip through her wings.
Tossed and turned now cries of war howl
tear-ing through her and yet,
and yet she sings.

Composed by David Warin Solomons. Christmas,Classical,Contemporary,Religious. 23 pages. David Warin Solomons #1063211. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.1486154).

Instrumental arrangement of my setting of Christmas song - being a meditation on finding the Christ child within oneself - the poem is by Audrey Vaughan.

I sought him where the marble shone
and rang with singing echoes
to the hurrying prelates' feet
and found him not

I sought him where the golden glow
and painted heav'n-eyed saints adorn
the sleeping altars
and found him not

I sought him where all nature's beauty burned
with autumn leaves afire
with death against the long blue sky
and found him not

I sought him down the stone sett streets
dull beneath the misty rain
which closed the surrounding hills
and found him not

I sought him in the eyes of strangers
bright with giving thoughts
and in the hearts of friends
but found him not

I sought him
him whom I loved
in ev'ry thing I loved
in my own heart's loving
but this night I found him not

but still I sought him
this gurgling boy of joy, but where?

the dark sky all above and round me
like a suffocating empty cloak
took time away
my thoughts away
my search away

and the peace of emptiness of self
opened the low brown door
and there his newness tiny lay

deep in the shriven hollow
of my heart, cradled there
I found him
