Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.956656 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by Catriona Melville-Mason. Concert,Romantic Period,Standards. 8 pages. C Melville-Mason #6505735. Published by C Melville-Mason (A0.956656). This piece is taken from the second set of Slavonic Dances, Opus 72, written by Czech composer Antonín Dvořák in 1886. His original set, Opus 48, had proved to be something of a breakthrough work, finally establishing Dvořák’s reputation well beyond his native land. The dances are original melodies, inspired by, and drawing on, the character of traditional national dances – not, as is sometimes thought, works based on existing folk tunes, as was the fashion among composers at around that time.  Both sets of Slavonic Dances were originally written for piano 4 hands but, in response to a request from his publisher, the composer produced orchestrated versions shortly afterwards. This is an arrangement for semi-flexible mixed woodwind quartet of 2 flutes, oboe and either B-flat clarinet or bassoon.  The piece makes a charming addition to general repertoire but could also be used as part of a programme of light background music at a wedding or function.

2 Flöten, Klarinette (Oboe), Trompete (B), Altsaxophon, Fagott, Vl 1, Vl 2, Va, Vc, Kb orchestra - easy to intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q6683 7 Modern Dances. Composed by Matyas Seiber. Arranged by Wolfgang Lichter. This edition: score. Concertino. Downloadable, Score. Duration 20 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q6683. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6683). After completing his studies with Zoltan Kodaly, the Hungarian composer Máthiás Seiber (1905-1960) first worked as a musician in a dance orchestra on an ocean liner which gave him the opportunity to listen to jazz music in New York. From 1928 he taught the first jazz class worldwide at Dr. Koch's Conservatoire in Frankfurt. In the winter term of 1928/29, 19 students had registered with whom he gave a public concert on 3 March 1929 which was broadcast by Radio Frankfurt. After the Nazis had seized power, the jazz class was dissolved, Seiber lost his job and emigrated to London. In 1932 he wrote his piano cycle 'Leichte Tänze' (Easy Dances), one of the early examples of the adoption of jazz forms and styles in so-called serious music. The present arrangement for orchestra is easily playable and is aimed at youth and amateur orchestras. Instrumentation: 2 flutes, clarinet, oboe (ad lib.), alto saxophone, trumpet, bassoon and strings. Movements: Cake Walk - Novelty Foxtrot - Gipsy Tango - Waltz - Walzer - Blues - Charleston.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1276710 By Jeff Bjorck. By Jeff Bjorck. Arranged by Jeff Bjorck. 19th Century,New Age,Wedding. Score. 5 pages. Pure Piano Music by Jeff Bjorck #868446. Published by Pure Piano Music by Jeff Bjorck (A0.1276710). This original solo piano composition by Jeff Bjorck appears on his album/CD, Keepsakes in the Attic. He notes that this song is intended to reflect a grandfather’s fond memory of his first waltz, performed at his own wedding reception. Imagine a young man who had not danced a day in his life before beginning to practice for this daunting event. As such, the melody starts somewhat rigidly and tentatively, but then it becomes more fluid and joyous as the new groom gains in confidence and finds himself enjoying the dance with his bride. Gone are the fears of missteps, replaced by the delight of looking in her eyes and celebrating the loving promise of a lifetime together.
